What customers say

Little Birch offers a peaceful, relaxing camping trip with friendly, helpful owners. Pitches are well-kept, spacious, and accessible. Facilities are usually clean, though some mention occasional issues and need for better grey water disposal/WiFi. Great location for exploring. Mostly quiet despite some road noise, and many want to return.

Liked We had a lovely 8-night stay at Little Birch. We received a great welcome from the owner, who showed us around all the facilities and was always on hand if we needed anything.

The facilities were excellent for the size of the site, and we never had to wait for anything.

We’ve visited a few larger campsites recently, but Little Birch felt much more relaxed and reminded us of the traditional campsites we used to enjoy.

We’ll definitely be back.

Liked A really lovely welcome and a great site, which I would highly recommend. We visited when it was really wet (Feb), and the hardstanding pitch was perfect. Access to the pitch itself was great too; the pitch itself was level, and next to a little stream under some trees, which was really lovely. All the facilities you need. Location is great, just 10 minutes drive from Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. There is a pub across the road, but it was sadly closed when we visited.

Disliked You can hear the main road, but honestly, it's not loud enough to be a nuisance.

Liked Friendly welcome from the owner, peaceful site despite being between two roads, nice waking up to birdsong, and the noise of water and ducks in the brook. Pubs and small shop which sells homemade sweet treats within walking distance. The site is behind the owners house so the place feels like staying in a large back garden.

Disliked Washing and toilet facilities need more attention, they looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while, with full bins and grubby services, my husband fixed the toilet roll holder which was on the floor and unblocked the shower because the shower tray was filling up during use.

Local attractions

So where to start on your sightseeing adventures? Animal-lovers and kids might vote for encountering the rescued primates at Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (10 minutes’ drive). Then perhaps a day in the popular resort of Weymouth (25 minutes), renowned for its sandy beaches and the observation wheel on the Esplanade? Heritage sights within easy reach include the hilltop remains of Corfe Castle (20 minutes), surrounded by an ancient village of the same name. Sitting on a headland with views over the English Channel, Osmington White Horse (15 minutes) was carved into the hillside in the early 19th century, and National Trust - Clouds Hill (10 minutes) is the austerely furnished former home of World War I man of mystery TE Lawrence. If you hit a rainy day and the kids are moaning, The Tank Museum (10 minutes) has hangars full of vintage tanks, a treasure trail for children through the exhibits and a soft play centre. The cuddly exhibits at the Teddy Bear Museum in Dorchester (15 minutes) are guaranteed to keep toddlers quiet for a couple of hours too.
