What customers say
This peaceful, secluded campsite in an apple orchard offers a relaxing escape. Reviewers loved the privacy, beautiful location, and friendly hosts. Facilities are basic but clean and well-maintained, with hot showers and a barn with ping-pong being highlights. Flexible check-in/out was appreciated. Mobile signal is poor, and access roads are narrow.

Favourite site in the south west!
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked I camp all over in all weathers, all year, and this is easily my favourite campsite in the south west! Have been probably 20 times in the last 3 years, sometimes solo, sometimes as a family and other times as a group, and would visit a lot more often if it wasn’t for their short, and unusually timed season (because it’s a working orchard, and at “peak” time they have to harvest the apples, I was stupid enough to ask so you don’t need to, seems obvious once you know!) ironically though it’s the perfect spot out of season, due to the fact you’re surrounded by apple trees, it’s massively sheltered from wind, even in a roof tent on tall vehicles, and if there’s rain then they have a huge open face barn to shelter under, with plenty of seating if for some reason you went camping without a chair. Facilities are basic, but has the essentials, flushing toilets, showers & washing up area bins & recycling, and they’re always kept clean. The owners/management are very welcoming, without being intrusive. Pitches are set in the rows of the apple trees, so very private & also very pretty. I’ve been here many times and been the only one here, but even when there are others you wouldn’t notice as there’s plenty of space, and lines of trees between you. It’s hard to find the words to do it justice, head out and see it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed! Phone signal is hit and miss, but that isn’t down to the site, I don’t understand why pitchup lets people mark places down for that, put your phone down.
Disliked Can’t visit all year!

Liked A gem of a campsite! So nice to have flexible check-in and out times. The table tennis provided lots of entertainment! We were also lucky to stay during the weekend of Cheriton Fitzpaine carnival which was a local delight 😊 Facilities were also excellent!

Beautiful unique setting
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Stayed for one night and will definitely be back for more, absolutely stunning location, very quiet and was surprised to hear this is often the case. Facilities are basic, toilets, showers and washing area, but this was all we needed and all areas were very clean and we'll maintained. There was also a large sheltered communal area which has some seating and a table tennis setup, which I can imagine is a blessing when it's raining and you've got bored children! Large and small pitches available and we were able to choose our own space when we arrived. For some reason, at the time of writing, pitchup lists the site as not allowing fires, however they do allow them as long as they are raised off the ground, however there are no firepits or wood available that we saw, so you'd have to bring your own.
Disliked Mobile phone signal is poor if that's something that matters to you, can't say it was a big concern personally. And obviously not something that the site owners have any control over.

Lovely site, fab hosts and good facilities!

Liked We loved our stay at Orchard Lodge! The hosts were fab and the simple set up of the site was perfect for us as a family. Although we were the only campers on the site, walking around it was clear to see that the orchard setting would have provided great privacy if it were busier. The plots were a good size with a freedom of choice on where to pitch up. The communal barn was a great addition with the table tennis set up and seating area, a nice way to escape the weather and still entertain the kids. We will definitely be returning and would recommend to any families looking for a quiet site where the kids can play and not have to worry!
