Dartmoor View has amazing views over Devon countryside to the south. A rural, adults-only site on a ten-acre smallholding, its grass pitches are surrounded by working farmland where sheep, horses graze peacefully. There's an abundance of wildlife, and easy access to bridleways and quiet lanes for exploring on foot. Cyclists, this site is right on the Devon Coast to Coast Cycle Route, so it’s a clever spot for overnight stays, and the Tarka Trail (five minutes) is renowned as a family biking route with lots of scenic spots along the way. Anglers will also find much to like here, with fishing for salmon and brown trout in the Taw and Torridge rivers, and carp fishing at lakes close by (10 minutes). In the sleepy village of Sheepwash (five minutes’ drive) there’s a handy community shop where you can stock up on supplies for the barbecue, and a great pub for those nights when you don’t want to cook. The market town of Hatherleigh (15 minutes) has a traditional market on Tuesday, where you can pick up local cheeses, pastries and bread, while Okehampton (25 minutes) is the best bet for serious shopping trips, with several sizeable supermarkets. Basic facilities on site are limited to running water and portable loos.
