East Greadon Wild Camping is a back-to-basics kind of campsite, with the choice of spacious pitches in two grassy fields with cracking views over north Devon countryside. It’s down a private lane on a working dairy farm, and you’ll soon be the best of pals with the cows grazing happily in neighbouring fields. Here you are truly off grid, with simple loos for your convenience, but no running water. You can park up by your pitch (pick your own spot) so there’s no traipsing across fields with camping gear, and you can keep an eye on the kids and dogs as they play safely around the site. The best news is that you’re only 20 minutes’ drive from the North Devon coast, and you can soon be catching waves on your surfboard at Bude (25 minutes), or out yomping along the South West Coast Path for views over the Atlantic. There’s also plenty of splashy family fun to be had on inflatable climbing courses at North Devon Wake Park (15 minutes). The small store in the local village of Bradworthy (10 minutes) will keep you stocked up with essentials, and there are bigger shops – as well as takeaways and pubs – in Holsworthy (20 minutes), where there’s also a small skate park and a golf club.
