Peaceful Meadow Camping welcomes you to Charlie’s Field, a truly wild-camping experience hidden away in a secluded valley close to Totnes. This is a smashing spot for anyone looking for a basic, off-grid break deep in South Devon countryside. Here you can find plenty of peace away from the chatter of the world and reconnect with nature – with the chatter of birds instead. Your nearest town is Totnes (15 minutes’ drive), known for its indie shops and arty galleries, and here you can pick up local cheeses, ciders and artisan breads at the Friday and Saturday markets – and you can take your pick of real-ale pubs and handy takeaways too. There are plenty of fields to wander back at the site, but you fancy exploring further afield by car, head for the sea at Blackpool Sands (25 minutes) or strike out across Dartmoor’s (20 minutes) moorland to its rocky tors. Simple on-site eco-facilities include handmade compost loos tucked away in the woods, campfires (you can buy firewood on site), drinking water and access to Ashwell brook.
