  • Pop-up, green field site with big pitches near Ilfracombe
  • Pick your own pitch for wild camping among stunning north Devon views
  • Firepits for hire and wood for sale: village shop half a mile away
Cheglinch Camping is a pop-up, gently sloping, green field site for wild camping in rural north Devon. Guests can pitch up in unspoiled countryside near a working farm with scenic views. The site opens in summer, but then reverts back to its agricultural use. It's in a quiet isolated location, yet easily accessible as it's within half a mile of the A361 and the village of West Down with its well-stocked community shop and pub. The spectacular north Devon beaches are a short drive away (Ilfracombe, for example, can be reached with a drive of five minutes). The pitches are generously sized but unmarked so you can pick your own location. There's plenty of room all around so kkids have open space to run and play, and so that you can take in the stunning views of north Devon while watching livestock grazing nearby. The site is predominantly a peaceful place interrupted only by the odd moo or bleat: however, as it's deep in countryside, there may be the odd day where tractors can be seen and heard working nearby. Barbecues are allowed as long as they are kept off the ground, or you can hire one of the firepits. Wood is available to buy on site. As it's wild camping in a rural location, facilities are basic: there's a mains water tap providing fresh water, a washing-up sink with cold water and clean composting toilets. Please note that the site doesn't have showers: guests are welcome to bring their own portable ones. Cheglinch Camping rotates between two fields, both with fab views over north Devon.
