This clean, friendly campsite boasts a fantastic location near the beach & public transport for exploring South Devon. Pitches are large, flat, and facilities are well-kept. Staff are praised as helpful. Some find limited toilet/shower facilities an issue during peak times.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Location - Dawlish Warren and public transport easily accessible from the site.
Toilets and showers new and always very clean.
Easy access from the Warren Road
Rules given verbally at the beginning of stay.
No noise after 12pm
Pitches a reasonable size and clearly marked.
Warden on-site, very approachable and friendly

Disliked Not a dislike but site is a basic site and only has basic essential facilities, would not be for everyone especially for those who have children who need occupying. We would certainly go back as it was perfect for us.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely quiet campsite with great shower and toilet facilities. Really helpful staff and only a short walk away from Sainsbury's, the fungi cafe and of course the beaches and holiday parks of Dawlish and Dawlish Warren.

Liked Great location for the beach (walking distance), good sized pitches and helpful onsite owners!

Arrived when the campsite was full and the most we ever waited for a shower was a few minutes.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked A good/basic campsite- relatively flat (slight slope) . Located approx 10- 15 mins from Dawlish Warren Beach, Approx 2 mile walk along sea front to Dawlish.
some handy facilities close by for bread, butter, milk etc.
Excellent staff on site, pleasant and offer guidance . there are good local taxi and bus services (bus stops near site).

Disliked Cannot believe that a campsite in this day and age does not have a chemical disposal point.
Toilet block can be a little congested when site busy

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Very nice and clean toilets and showers.
Close to the beach (10 minutes walk)
Great location for exploring South Devon

Disliked Very close pitches. I could not sleep through my neighbours snoring.

There needs to be a cut through at the bottom of the field to save you walking right the way around to the front gate.

Owners rather militant. We arrived an hour early (great run on M5) and despite our pitch being clear we were still not allowed to set the tent up until check in time

Local attractions

The coast has to be first port of call, right? Spend your day paddling and sandcastle-building at Dawlish Warren, explore Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve, stride out along the South West Coast Path or head up to Starcross (10 minutes’ drive) for a ferry across the River Exe to Exmouth. Heading inland for a while, you might like to explore Devon Sculpture Park (15 minutes), take to the trails of Haldon Forest Park (20 minutes) or head up to Dartmoor National Park (half an hour) for days of hiking, horse riding or mountain biking. Exeter (half an hour by car or train) is a good bet for a day out too. If you’re looking for something to keep the kids amused, try the likes of the Crealy Theme Park (half an hour), Paignton Zoo (40 minutes) or a ride on the Dartmoor Railway (45 minutes). Haldon’s Go Ape course (20 minutes) and the Grand Prix go-kart track (15 minutes’ walk) are also on hand for those who need a bit more activity.
