Lovely site to access Croyde beach
FHU grass campsite
Liked Such a lovely vibe at this campsite, a very family feel. I like that the owners often drove around on a little tractor thing to check everything was all okay. Great shop with warm baguettes in the morning and very friendly staff. Shop was open really long hours too, 8:30am to gone 9pm, not sure on actual closing time. Reception was also open late which was great for us as we arrived quite late but it was nice someone was there to great us. Every morning we were there there was a crepe van which we ate at twice as it was so good! We didn’t try the fish and chips and pizza but they looked busy so sure they were great too and helpful having food available on site.
LOVE that it’s a dog free site and the local beach is also no dogs! Makes a change as usually campsites (in my opinion) can be ruined by dogs everywhere.
Walk to Croyde beach is very easy, literally cross the road and there’s a little footpath that is signposted down Sandy Lane, around 10-15 minute walk but very flat so easy to do. Croyde beach is stunning and has so many different food options around so you barely need a car whilst here. We nipped into Braunton for some food shopping but other than that everything can be within walking distance if you’re able.
It’s a big site with multiple fields but the shower and toilet block had plenty of them so never had to wait. There’s also an additional toilet block at the top end.
Great security onto site as only vehicles with a sticker you get given can get through the barrier which is fab! No code to remember as it opens automatically for you so quick and easy access.
The sunset in the evenings were amazing, we were in field D which I think was the best location as we could also see the sea, so we had a great view of the sun setting over the sea every night. Seemed like a really good dark sky area so the night sky was absolutely beautiful.
Disliked Pitches are more close together than you get at other sites (that we’ve been to) so is quite cosy and you can hear everyone’s conversations around you so wasn’t overly peaceful in the evening. Not sure if there was a specific “quiet time” but as most places, a lot of campers didn’t stick to this unfortunately.
Pitches are very sloppy, was fine for us as we had blocks but if you don’t you’d really struggle so recommend levelling blocks or similar else you’ll be leaning to one side massively.
Totally understand why there was a ban on charcoal bbqs due to the recent weather but we weren’t made aware of it until we arrived. They said they posted it on their facebook but I did not look at that so an email would have been helpful. So a bit of lack of pre-arrival communication there.

Beautiful views & sunsets in a well organised, clean site - good vibes
Powered grass campsite
Liked Beautiful views and sunsets over the sea & baggy point, rabbits in the field at night.
Great facilities clean and no Q’s.
Try the Lardy cake available in the shop! We had a whole one for breakfast between a family of 4 - so delicious we had 3 mornings and brought one home for our neighbours.
Staff were all super friendly and helpful.
Pitches are well organised with water taps spread through the field, short walk to toilets/showers/washing etc
Crepe & coffee hut on site (we didn’t use)
Chippy on site - we only had chips but they were good chips!
Busy site if you like being around people, park for the kids is good, we have a teen & tween they loved the site.
Not too noisy as only families & couples, but enough bustle to feel part of something.
We stopped for 7 nights and loved it!!
Disliked Only negative for us was the pizza from the pizzeria - the base was like cardboard and not worth £12 for a marg BUT as everything else was amazing I’ve not marked the site down.
We had pizza at the Hide out at the back of the Hub in Croyde and that was amazing!
WiFi wasn’t good for us, we paid for a day but still struggled to get WiFi - not a deal breaker though & depends which network as one of us had good signal - Smarty good 02 bad

Liked The facilities are great; clean and nice and all we needed. The staff is very helpful. Also liked the fish & chips nearby ;)
Disliked Usually no problem with animals, but this time mice nibbeled on our tent's floor. That will take us some effort to fix.

Liked Clean, friendly staff. Good amount of facilities, family focused, yet quiet at night too. Choice of pitch in the non electric area. (Chargeable) Sockets in the bathroom area l. Fantastic views. Close to everything we needed. Good sized children's play area
Disliked WiFi was an extra charge of needed.
Pizza and chips available on site (not fantastic)-a short walk into croyde and really good pizza and chips for a few pound more.
My daughter would love it if the zip line could be a bit higher off the ground.

FHU grass campsite
Liked Great location with a stunning view of the bay right from the campsite! The showers and toilets were very clean and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. Fantastic amenities as well – there is a shop on-site, and other stores an Pubs are just a quick 5-minute walk away.
Disliked The only downside was that freezing ice packs overnight costs 60p each. In my opinion, this service should be included in the price, even though the fee goes to charity.

Liked Brilliant views, fantastic facilities -
(toilets, showers and dish washing area) with some great onsite additions such as the chip shop, pizza shop and coffee and crepe vendor.
Disliked A little far from the loos if you’re up the top but that’s a personal preference as I have chrons and mobility issues.
