As expected for a spot called Strawberry Hill, the views from this site – about a half an hour walk from Devon’s northern coastal cliffs – truly are tasty. This off-grid park overlooks a large field full of long grass, wildflowers, butterflies plus a trio of tame sheep. It's popping up for a limited time a 10-minute drive from Bideford. Just outside the protected Hartland Devon Heritage Coast area, the site has wild vibes that are backed up by its basic facilities (it has a long-drop toilet and cold running water). Heat up your H20 on a campfire, perhaps cooking grub at the same time, or head out for food at an award-winning pub less than 10 minutes away by car. Back at the park, a communal open-air area is set up with benches for sitting around the blaze (or just taking in the view). When you’re not peering at the pretty panoramas, head for the beach – the sandy stretch of seaside at Westward Ho! is 10 minutes’ drive. Local tours, surfing and fishing trips are possible near here too, so have a chat with the owners about those. If it’s soggy out, please note that you won’t be able to park up next to your pitch unless you have a four-wheel drive.
