Level-grounded site
Hardstanding pitch

  • Large level-grounded working farm site in the Devon countryside
  • A 10-minute drive from Roadford Lake; opposite a forest with trails
  • On-site farm shop selling fresh and local food; country pubs nearby
Your adventurous side may very well rear its head once you touch down at Evergreen Farm in the Devon countryside. This large level-grounded site is in a rural patch opposite a forest, 10 minutes’ drive from the watersports haven at Roadford Lake and 35 minutes from Bude’s beaches and Dartmoor National Park. Fancy like some fresh produce to start off your day? Well, you won’t need to stray far, as there’s a farm shop on site selling free-range eggs and locally produced meats. This is the place to get your hands on a hot brew and a savoury or sweet treat, as there’s a selection of pies, pasties, sausage rolls, cakes and hot food available daily – plus local ice cream, cream teas and cups of tea and coffee. Once you’ve got all that energy in your veins, it may seem natural that the large forest opposite the site is next on your to-do list. Packed with wildlife and plenty of opportunities for kids (or adults) to let off steam, there are trails for walking and cycling and places to mash together a den. When you’re looking to stock up on your supplies, there are gas bottles available on site and local shops within four miles of the site. Holsworthy, Okehampton and Trethorne Leisure Park are all under 25 minutes’ drive away from the site, so you’ll be well within reach of leisure centres and golf courses too. And when you’ve got more food on the brain, there are several traditional country pubs serving food within 10 minutes’ drive of the site.

What customers say

This quiet, friendly campground has roomy, level sites and clean, well-kept amenities with plenty of hot water. The on-site farm store gets high marks for quality products. Owners are consistently praised for being helpful and welcoming. Though minor upgrades like waste disposal and more frequent shop hours are suggested, guests are overwhelmingly positive and many plan to return.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked I chose this campsite as I wanted a central spot to explore the area on my solo motorbike/camping trip,it was a good choice.
The campsite is a large flat area and the grass is kept short. The pitch’s are a generous size.
The toilet/shower block is very clean and hot water is not an additional charge and was plentiful. Alongside the block is the washing up sink and bins, again kept clean and tidy.
There is also a farm shop which is conservatively stocked and I recommend their Cornish Pasties and Scotch eggs, yummy.
This is a no thrills site, which is what I required, however the cleanliness and warm welcome, means that I would not hesitate to return.
One last thing. The sunsets were beautiful, and were very restorative after some wonderful riding through this gorgeous countryside.

Disliked This really only applies to me an my motorcycle, other vehicles would have no problems and more of a caution to other fellow riders, whose motorcycles would be fairly laden with equipment and therefore heavy.
The short entrance drive is Loose Gravel and a large pot hole, that needs to be avoided is on the right side of the entrance.

Powered grass campsite

Liked Nice clean campsite, flat pitches, amazing base to go to the beach or forest. Emma and Peter are fantastic hosts, super friendly and helpful.
Showers are nice and plenty of hot water. We loved our week there and have already booked again. Definitely recommend this campsite 100%

Disliked My personal preference nothing to do with my review. We will stay here again!! Bins next to washing up station, got a little smelly at times, but bins were emptied every day and washed out by owners.
A communal outdoor freezer ( have had these at many campsites and worked well) would have been nice to keep cool elements so we didn’t have to try to catch the owners to freeze them for us.

Powered grass campsite

Liked Pitches a good size.

Disliked Very poor directions to site.
Poor signage, Some of the full time residents were very rude,
Grass Very wet due to being quite long,
The site is not really ideal for touring caravans or Motor homes as there is no where for grey waste water or toilet waste. (See pictures disgusting)
Shop was something and nothing hardly anything in there,
Shower and Toilet facilities were absolutely disgusting shared (Male & Female)

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.we are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations, but we would like to clarify a few points for accuracy.
Regarding the grass being wet and longer than usual, we had experienced torrential rain in the week prior to your stay, which unfortunately meant the ground conditions made it unsafe and impractical to mow immediately.
In relation to the waste disposal comments and photos, you have taken photos of the wrong waste disposal, campsite waste disposal is at the other end of the campsite, if you had spoken to us we would of directed you.
Our shop is a small farm shop, and we offer our own farm produced meat along with a limited selection of basic camping essentials, rather than a full convenience store.
We are particularly disappointed by the comments regarding our shower and toilet facilities. These are cleaned regularly and maintained to a high standard, and other guests staying at the same time commented very positively on their cleanliness.
We appreciate all feedback, as it helps us improve, but we also feel it is immportant that reviews fairly reflect the facilities and services actually provided.

Local attractions

So, you’ve got a thing for the outdoors… if so, Roadford Lake (10 minutes’ drive) should make it onto your activities list, as there’s walking and cycling on the shores, and out on the lake you can try watersports from kayaking and canoeing to craft-making (fingers crossed it doesn’t sink). Of course, Dartmoor National Park (35 minutes) is all about being in wide open spaces. Naturally, that may mean getting a bit mucky… horse riding, cycling, climbing and canoeing are all on the go here. Those of you specifically wanting to barrel around on bikes will want to set off to Sourton (20 minutes) to get onto the Granite Way cycling trail (there’s bike hire, too, for those of you without your own). After all that activity, perhaps you’ll want to round off the day with a cream tea in the ancient stannary town of Tavistock (35 minutes). The sugar rush might revive your senses – and that’s OK too, as you’ll have all the more energy for the historic Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre (15 minutes), the large Ashbury Hotel Golf Courses (20 minutes) or Bude’s beaches (35 minutes).
