  • Simple adults-only pitches at a secluded rural Cornwall site
  • Wadebridge five minutes' drive; 20 minutes to the north coast
  • A mile from the A39; woodland walks and river swims close by
Simple, secluded and the sole preserve of grown-up guests – that’s the deal at Mill Valley, a quiet adults-only site in the Cornwall countryside about five minutes’ drive from the town of Wadebridge. That location so close to the town is a handy one indeed, as it puts you within easy reach of all the shops, restaurants and other amenities you should need for your holiday. Wadebridge is also the starting point for the Camel Trail, so you can head here for traffic-free bike rides, hiring bikes in town if you need. In fact, this site is pretty well located for all sorts of Cornwall attractions, including Tintagel Castle and the Eden Project, and various activities such as surfing from the north-coast beaches, walking on Bodmin Moor… and eating fish and chips or fancy restaurant meals in Padstow. All of these options are within a drive of half an hour thanks to the A39, which is about a mile away. Spending time on this laidback site is all about embracing the simple things in life – you’ll be able to take walks in the adjacent oak wood or go wild swimming in the nearby river, then come back to the site for an evening tending your barbecue. Pitches are on a slight slope, with access to basic facilities including compost toilets and a wood-fired shower. Dogs are welcome to join you but should be kept on a lead at all times because of the resident livestock.

What customers say

This highly-rated, rustic, peaceful off-grid site is loved for its friendly owners, unique eco-facilities, and tranquil atmosphere. Perfect for disconnecting. Some notes on sloped pitches and occasional shower temp/access, but overwhelmingly positive with many wanting to return.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Lovely, quiet small site. Not too sloped. Loose check in/out times. Composting toilet works well. Resident horse.

Disliked Showers aren't great, I like the idea of wood fired shower but in reality it is pretty unusable - some solar showers would be better I think. It's a bit of a pain climbing over stile to get to washing area.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for your review Adam...with regards to access to showers and washing area there is also a gate next to the stile so you can take your pick! Regarding the showers -we have been using the same system on our glamping/camping site for nearly 20 years. It is a simple and fun way to generate hot water for showers and baths, unlike solar this works regardless of the weather. Everything is provided to facilitate this and the shower only takes about 15 minutes to heat up. It isn't instant hot water but that's one of the charms of Mill Valley, everything slows down :-)

Liked Peaceful, lovely location, nice being near livestock.

Disliked Shower was a unique experience that didn’t really work for me, took a while to get the fire burning, and even longer to get any warmth in the water,
Once it did it wasn’t warm for long,
All for £3.

From the manager: HI Michael, thank you for your review...we did speak you to on a number of occasions during your stay with us and if you were struggling with the fire/shower we would've gladly helped.
We don't really understand because on your last evening here you said "the showers are great fun!"
Whilst we understand it was your first time camping we think it is really unfair to rate us down on :
WIFI - our site is NOT advertised with WIFI as we're in the countryside.
CLEANLINESS - The toilets and the showers are all cleaned twice daily.
CUSTOMER SERVICE - You had a welcome message before your arrival so you had all the details, we met you on arrival and then had several chats with you over the time you were here. You were also told that we were in our shop between the hours of 2 and 6 everyday if you needed to know anything etc.
FACILITIES/ACTIVITIES - We are lucky to live in an area where there is so much to do, stunning walks on the doorstep, the camel trail close by and stunning beaches within a 5 mile drive.
VALUE FOR MONEY - £12.50 a pitch in North Cornwall in the holidays. Enough said!

Liked Lovely campsite, amazing staff.
We were great when we arrived, and recommend a spot to suit our needs. The facilities were clean and well stocked with toilet roll.
The campsite was extremely peaceful, had some lovely wildlife which added to the experience and made for an extremely pleasant stay.
The staff were attentive, approachable and genuinely nice people. They informed us about a lovely walk to a stream nearby and told us about a shower break as soon as they could and redirected us to other showers onsite.

Disliked We did not dislike anything during our stay. But may advise asking staff on how to heat the showers.
Also worth noting there is a separate camp within the same site which does allow children.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Beautifully peaceful campsite with genuinely lovely hosts. A relaxed stay in a stunning setting, surrounded by nature, a perfect place to get away and enjoy a simple night under the stars. We were travelling on motorbikes and received a warm welcome, and appreciated tips on routes and places to visit. Simple facilities, and off grid so no WiFi or electric, but for us camping is about getting away from all that and back to basics for a few nights. Definitely one we'll return to in the future.
