If you're on the lookout for a Cornwall location that’s both gorgeously green and easy to get to, take a look at Carnon Downs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite. The spacious touring pitches here are part of a 20-acre landscaped park that provides plenty of peace and privacy – but they're also fabulously easy to access from the A39 (between Truro and Falmouth). It’s also a short walk from the village of Carnon Downs, which has a mini market, a seasonal fruit farm and a local garden centre with a popular café. This site is managed by the Caravan and Motorhome Club but you don’t need to be a member to stay. However, the £69 annual membership certainly worth considering if you're likely to spend more than four nights at a Caravan and Motorhome Club site over the coming year – it entitles you to discounted rates at more than 140 UK Club sites and a raft of other perks, like access to tailored caravan/motorhome insurance, discounts on days out and savings on top brands. The price displayed here is the member rate; on-members pay a £15/night extra charge. This is a spacious site with high-quality facilities including a playground, a games room and a café/bar serving up snacks and drinks, either inside or out on the terrace. There are also heated bathroom blocks (with wheelchair-accessible facilities), a launderette, a washing-up area and a tourist information point. Dogs are welcome, and there's plenty of space to exercise them at the dog walk area. As for human walks, how about a stroll to the pub? There are three welcoming local inns within walking distance for an easy meal and drink at the end of your day of exploring the Cornish countryside and coast.

Liked Well organized Campsite.
Enough space on pitches and services.
A clean and well-maintained site.
There are plenty of cubicles with an integrated shower, toilet and washbasin for daily personal hygiene.
A lovely bar and a changing selection of dishes.

Disliked Although the price is fair overall, the website advertises a lower price when booking. If you’re not a member, there’s a hefty surcharge straight away.

Local attractions

Cornwall's only cathedral city is easy to reach; Truro (10 minutes' drive) has stunning historic architecture and a popular weekly farmers' market to its name. If you like to take a dip while on holiday, acquaint yourself with Loe beach (10 minutes). This sheltered spot is just the spot for a swim or some watersports. The maritime town of Falmouth (20 minutes) is another fine option, with its sandy beaches. After your dip, look around the natural harbour or call into the National Maritime Museum Cornwall (25 minutes). Walkers and nature fans are also well-served in these parts. There are scenic footpaths leading directly from the site towards the river Fal and the historic hamlets of Penpol and Devoran, while cyclists can get their fix on the coast-to-coast Bissoe Trail, a short drive away. Other iconic Cornish landmarks within striking distance of the park include the Eden Project (45 minutes) or the lush Trelissick Garden (five minutes).
