Pretty much everything to tickle the fancy of families and couples on a Cornish hol is at Penrose Holiday Park a couple of miles from Perranporth. This splendid spot is near some of Cornwall's most splendid beaches (Perranporth and Crantock are just two in the area) for sandy days out without packs of other people.
It's kid- and dog-friendly too, is five miles from Newquay for those who fancy some serious surf, and has free hot showers in blocks with hairdryers and shaving points, along with family rooms and a disabled wetroom.
The family team here has thought of extra little touches to tick most people's holiday boxes, like hand hygiene gel added to the chemical disposal point, the sink in the laundry area for washing out delicates, and the campers' kitchen with fridge, microwave and the loan of ice blocks for its chest freezer. A dishwashing area is also to hand.
For supplies, the fresh and frozen food, tipples, tobacco and post office of Penrose's local shop is a two-minute walk away: bring foodie and drinkie bits back to have evening dins and sips around the site picnic table.
And – another item that might tickle your fancy on hol – just across from the shop is local pub the New Inn, serving up meals from a fairly extensive menu; a kids' play area is here too.

Penrose Holiday Park is fably placed to reach pretty much anywhere in Cornwall within half an hour's drive, whether you fancy theme parks like Flambards or the Crealy Great Adventure Park, Cornwall's spectacular gardens, its historic houses and its heritage of tin and china clay mining. And of course there are many, many beaches…
Within a few miles are two small urban areas high up on the 'Cornwall is well gorgeous' list: the town of Perranporth two miles away, with a three-mile-long surf-friendly sandy beach, and the village of Crantock three miles away, with thatched cottages, another beach and the Gannel estuary.
Busier – and yet more surfier – times are in Newquay five miles away, along with several surf schools; for shopping, nightlife and a museum, theatre and cinema, take yourself to Truro, 10 miles away.
If Cornish cantering is a holiday thing too, riding stables a few miles from the site do treks for equine enthusiasts from beginners to experienced riders. Surfboard hire, lessons, paddleboard coaching and jetski hire are all easy to access in the area too, and a karting circuit is nearby.
