Grass pitches

  • Small, simple site on the Cornish coast between Lamorna and Treen
  • A 10-minute drive to Porthcurno beach; 15 minutes to Land's End
  • Next to a path to St. Loy Cove and the South West Coast Path
Traditional no-frills camping near the Cornwall coast? St. Loy Camping is a good choice for it – this small family-run site between Lamorna and Treen is in a splendid spot for getting out to lots of choice spots around Cornwall’s western stretches. Your closest stretch of the coast here is St. Loy Cove, about a mile away. You can walk down here through the woods and then pick up the South West Coast Path to hike… well, as far as you like really. Perhaps you’d like to head east to lovely Lamorna Cove or venture west to the likes of Pedn Vounder, Porthgwarra and the incredible setting of the Minack Theatre. All of the above and more popular spots are within easy reach if you decide to drive or cycle directly there too: as a guide it’ll take roughly 10 minutes to drive to Porthcurno or the Minack. Extend your driving time to 15 minutes and you can also take in Sennen Cove, Mousehole and Land’s End. With all this on offer nearby, you won’t need lots of entertainment on site – and with that in mind, the owners here have chosen to keep things simple on the facilities front. All the essentials are covered though, with toilets and showers, an outdoor washing-up sink and drinking water taps provided, along with picnic benches close to the footpath down to the sea. Life is pretty laidback here, with kids, dogs, barbecues and campfires all permitted as long as you’re sensible with them.

What customers say

Peaceful site, stunning sea views from upper field. Clean, well-kept facilities with hot showers. Friendly owner, Paul, gets rave reviews. Spacious pitches, picnic tables. Great for coastal walks, Minack Theatre, coves. Minor shower temp issues & slopes, but overall great value.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Great camping spot with view of the sea. No frills but that’s ideal when you just need somewhere to park a camper for a night. Lots of picnic benches and standpipes, and the facilities are ok. Great location for easy access to lots of great places, like the Minack and Porthcurno beach (and really not far from Penzance).

A simple farm site.It was end of season and only me in small tent and a couple of campervans who were parked sixty metres away, so very quiet.

Disliked Nothing. All good.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Total peace and quiet. Decent facilities. Just as the summer was coming to an end and the crowds leaving Cornwall . I think there were just two camper van further up the field. I had five nights in my small tent, some walks on the coastal path, both directions. Lots of thinking time. Lots of lying on my mat in the sun, watching the clouds shifting over me. Purpose of trip was to greet my youngest son at Lands End as he finished his Jon o' Groats to Lands End Cycle trip. That all connected up. Fabulous. Many years since I've been in Cornwall. Was lovely to be back.

Disliked Nothing !

Local attractions

Some of Cornwall’s best coastal spots are close by here, so make sure you’re well stocked with all the relevant beach gear. Lamorna Cove (a pretty pebbly beach favoured by both artists and scuba divers), and the gorgeous sandy stretches at Pedn Vounder and Porthcurno are all about 10 minutes’ drive away. Surf hotspot Sennen Cove is about 15 minutes away. Elsewhere along the coast, you might like to take in a show in the stunning sea-view setting of the Minack Theatre (10 minutes’ drive), snap a pic at Land’s End (15 minutes) or wander through the winding streets of cute fishing village Mousehole (15 minutes). St Michael’s Mount (25 minutes) is well worth a trip too. Fancy swapping your sea view for a stroll through a gorgeous garden? Try the trails at Trewidden Garden (15 minutes), Trengwainton Garden (20 minutes) or Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens (25 minutes).
