  • Family-friendly park 10 minutes' drive from Newquay
  • Covering 56 acres including a dedicated dog area
  • Pool, play zones, clubhouse and fish and chip takeaway
There’ll be plenty of time for monkey business in this family-friendly site… Surrounded by a whopping 56 acres of countryside and a fab place for taking toddlers, Monkey Tree Holiday Park is 10 minutes from Perranporth and its huge open beach, as well as the lively surf centre of Newquay. As you might already (luckily) know, the north coast of Cornwall is tiptop for beaches – Newquay's famed for its world-class waves and heady nightlife, while Perranporth has kayaking and hovercrafting to get adventurously stuck into, and top-notch coastal walks on either side of the beach. Back at base, catch a few pages of your book while the kids splash about in the outdoor heated pool complex… or while they join in with the packed entertainment schedule for juniors (there's a talented in-house entertainment team on hand with a daily kids' club and Funky Monkey putting in a regular appearance). On top of that, a maze of net walkways, slides and ball pools means that younger guests will have plenty to keep them entertained, whatever the weather. Food's sorted with the on-site clubhouse and restaurant, and fish and chip takeaway (fish and chips + seaside = essential). Or fire up the barbecue instead: hit up the camp store for the essentials, or head to the grocery store 10 minutes away.

What customers say

Highly-rated, family-friendly campground with clean facilities, spacious sites, and great entertainment. Guests love the pool, playgrounds, and friendly staff. While kids' activities and cleanliness are big hits, some mention WiFi, noise, and activity costs. Location is good, but can be remote without a car.

Liked Great place (v big site), but Newquay a long drive from Brightlingsea. Loved outside pool, great restaurant and bar area with evening entertainment. Olly Murs tribute was excellent and karaoke good fun and met lovely people. Mini golf, slot machines and play area great for kids. Pitches a really good size.

Disliked Unfortunately we pitched our tent late at night as arrived 9pm. Arrogant man in tent in front of us complaining about noise late at night (not our fault) blaming us for him not being able to get his daughter to sleep. He then almost started a fight with us as he didn’t like us talking in our tent at 11pm next night. Rule is to be quiet at midnight but him and mates up til 2am outside talking the following night !!! 😳Good security on duty all the time driving round so had this man been more aggressive and rude in front of the children, then action would have been taken. Never experienced such an arrogant nasty person whilst camping before. Pool smelly near vents with jacuzzi bubbles. Needed cleaning.

Powered grass campsite (comfort)

Liked Facilities and staff were all great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Monkey Tree. My son loved all of the facilities, so much so that he did not want to go out for day trips. The onsite food options were surprisingly good. Overall, a great family park in a pretty good location in Cornwall

Disliked Lack of WiFi - we paid for a “comfort” pitch, thinking being closer to the facilities would ensure that we would have connectivity. This was not the case, we had no WiFi at our pitch and could barely connect when right outside the main buildings. This needs to be improved, especially where Cornwall is not great for mobile data (barely had any mobile signal the whole week).

Liked Perfect location for beaches and days out to Newquay, Eden Project and Castles.
Really good entertainment and activities
Lovely pool
Really clean
Staff are helpful and friendly
Crazy golf was really good - kids loved it!
Reasonable priced food and drinks.
Shop was more expensive but well stocked with hot pastries in the morning.

Disliked Pitches are large but very close together
Amenities for our pitch were small, compared to the area it served. We had 2 showers and 3 toilets - not enough.
Showers were too hot at times and couldn’t adjust the temperature. One shower only stay on for 6 seconds which is ridiculous when you’re trying to wash your face and hair.

Liked Level pitches big site and plenty of toilets shower blocks . Had well stocked shop. Chip shop and pizza shop on site which was handy .

Disliked The breakfast in the beach club was cold . Had full English only thing hot was the sausage . Pancakes were cold too . Some staff I found ignorant . And no toilet paper in toilets on a night or in a morning . Also we took a dog and was no place for you to take them and let them off lead for a run . Also dogs were not allowed in club house on a night but fine during day . So was unable to watch the adult entertainment

Liked We loved the site, the pitches were spacious, there was lots for all the family to do. There were lots of toilet blocks around each area of the site. There was somewhere to plug in your own hair dryer. The facilities were always clean. The shop had reasonable prices. There were little parks for the kids everywhere. 10/10 and we will be back!!

Local attractions

Cornwall’s coastline and beaches are pretty much legendary, but Newquay (10 minutes) is world-famed for its surf and nightlife too. It’s a party town from daybreak until well after dark and the surf's so good they hold international competitions here – check out Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay. Perranporth (10 minutes) is the place to head for a more relaxed beach day, though it’s very popular so best to get your towel down early. The beach here is a fab spot for dog walking, rolling up the trousers for a paddle or lazing around and copping a look at the views. The Eden Project (35 minutes) has the UK’s most realistic rainforest, full of rare plant species and exotic butterflies, as well as a pretty nifty Mediterranean biome. Daredevils can also have a go on England’s longest zipwires – or head over to Flambards in Helston (45 minutes) for flumes, rollercoasters and go karting.
