  • Small site with spectacular views of Lostwithiel in Cornwall
  • The Eden Project and Polkerris beach both 15 minutes’ drive
  • Logs available for firepits; 15 minutes' walk to shops and cafés
Lost In Canvas is a small site in the grounds of Delancey House, set on a hillside overlooking the historic town of Lostwithiel. Expect scenic views overlooking the valley below and a peaceful getaway in the Cornish countryside. You are free to roam the grounds of Delancey House, so stretch your legs with a walk down to the lower meadows, keeping your eyes peeled for wildlife – you might get lucky and see the resident roe deer, who often puts in an appearance. There’s also direct access to 35 acres of woodland, or it’s 15 minutes’ walk down the hill into Lostwithiel to its shops, cafés and pubs. Hop in the car and you’re soon on a beach. But which one to choose? The family-friendly Polkerris (20 minutes' drive) has a beachfront pub and restaurant, while Polridmouth (15 minutes) has often calm waters, making it a great wild swimming spot. Sheltered Porthpean Beach (20 minutes) is popular for watersports (hire gear there) and rock pooling with the kids.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked This is an excellent campsite and I really recommend it. It’s quiet, not over crowded with only a few places to pitch tents they aren’t trying to cram everyone in, it feels like they are trying to keep it as a peaceful break away from everything.

Me and my sister had a easy drive to the Eden Project from this campsite, so if that’s something you are thinking of doing, staying here makes sense.

It has the most beautiful views and the facilities felt modern and clean.

The whole experience of staying at the campsite was just easy with no hassle. Communication with the owner was also great, I really don’t have any negatives.

Highly recommend.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked We really enjoyed our stay here, the view is absolutely amazing and the owners and facilities are lovely. The only downside was that our pitch got the most of the wind but that is down to the weather and not the site. We will definitely be coming back

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked One of the best campsites we've ever stayed at. Incredible views, excellent facilities (the shower there was better than ours at home), and felt really special with campfires and loads of space.

Disliked There's a big hill to get up every day but it's worth it.

Local attractions

Have a ramble around sculpture trails in The Lost Gardens of Heligan (half an hour's drive), or scare yourselves listening to lurid ghost stories at Bodmin Jail Attraction (15 minutes). And of course, it’s worth taking time to explore the tropical biospheres at the ever-popular Eden Project (15 minutes). Sporty types can play golf, go paddleboarding in the Fowey Estuary (both 15 minutes) or yomp through the wetlands at Shirehall Moor Local Nature Reserve (five minutes). And when you’ve done your exercise for the day, make for the fantastic pubs, cafés and restaurants in lively, pretty Fowey (20 minutes) for waterfront dining on fine Cornish seafood. Up north is Bodmin Moor, where you might want to explore the path around Colliford Lake (half an hour) or stroll along the rapids to Golitha Falls (20 minutes). From Wadebridge (25 minutes), think about cycling along the Camel Trail to pretty Padstow. A nice detour here is to the similarly named Camel Creek Family Adventure Park (35 minutes), packed with family-friendly rides.
