Llamas just having a chat

  • Back-to-basics tourer pitches at a plant nursery in Cornwall
  • Looe Beach and Millendreath Sea Pool five minutes’ drive
  • Off-grid site with a small café; llamas in the neighbouring paddock
If you’re looking for a budget tourer option on your upcoming Cornish jaunt, the pop-up Calamazag Plant Nursery may suit you down to the ground. It’s five minutes’ drive from the pretty fishing village of Looe, in a handy spot that gives you a choice of beaches and coastal towns to explore. Pitches here are flat and spacious grass spaces for campervans or motorhomes, and they have lovely Cornish countryside views. The llama paddock is right next door, so you’ll have cute animals to watch to keep you amused during your stay. The pitches are adjacent to the plant sales area, which has a small high-quality café cabin serving barista coffee, artisan drinks, cakes, sandwiches and toasties as well as ice cream and Cornish cream teas. This is a back-to-basics park-up with no showers, electric hook-ups or toilet waste facilities on site, so you will need to be in a vehicle that is self-sufficient. The only facilities available are a portable loo and drinking water. There is a bus stop a short walk away for those who want to explore the area by public transport.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Wow! This is the best of “back to basics” camping! Views that are the envy of the larger neighbouring campsites with a wee coffee-dock in the nursery. Stephen, your genial host, is bringing all his own camping experience to bear as he slowly builds up this campsite.

Be warned though, the nursery has a great range of competitively priced plants, so make sure you have left space in your van for your journey home.

We will definitely be back to stay again!
