How does waking up to coastal and rural views sound to you? Throw in proximity to gorgeous sandy beaches and being between pretty seaside spots like Praa Sands and Porthleven and you'll get an idea of what it's like to stay at Ashton Hill Camping, a family-friendly farm site under two miles from Cornwall's south coast. The site has views over the Lizard Peninsula, a few miles along the coast to the east. Praa Sands (five minutes' drive) is within easy reach for scenic swims too, with Porthleven roughly the same distance away in the other direction if you fancy a sheltered spot for paddleboarding and sea kayaking. This laidback working farm is basic in terms of facilities, but they've set up functional and well-maintained toilets and showers to see you through your stay. Ashton Hill Camping is also an easy half-mile journey from a local pub and an independent café for meals, drinks and light bites. Of course, you could very well do some cooking for yourself at Ashton Hill Camping, as the site allows barbecues and campfires. Dogs are welcome here, but please keep them on leads and on their best behaviour.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Size of the site, great views, showers were spot on, it was very quiet when we were there, enjoyed hearing the animals from the farm in the morning too, thanks for having us!

Disliked: Grass to long to play any games like football rounders badminton toilets no hand wipes got attacked by a peacock good job it was me and not one of the children we arrived on the Saturday left on the Monday never again the last time we stayed there had a good holiday not this time I think the owner has better things to do with his time the exit entrance is very dangerous as you can't see the road either way to pull out safely no mirror as there was last time !!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Clean lovely secured field, very chilled, not many people around. Great location, clean toilets and shower, there was soap, dishwasher liquid and loo rolls. No electricity at all though, which is as described. Kids had a great time looking at the goat and peacock!
