Plenty of room

  • Small dog-friendly site one mile from the St. Ives Bay coastline
  • A 25-minute walk from three miles of golden-sand surfing beaches
  • Clubhouse on site; kitchen open for some evening meals
Time to get stuck into the Cornish surf and St Ives’ arts scene? All aboard for Hayle Rugby Club Campsite, a small site just a mile from the St Ives Bay coastline. Setting down 25 minutes’ walk from three miles of golden-sand surfing beaches will surely please those looking to master the Cornwall waves, explore the dunes and wildlife or set about some sandcastle building. Just off the main A30 road, accessing beaches, towns and the surf is all rather straightforward. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the site, along with pubs, shops and bus stops (to access other local spots and areas all around the Cornish coast). St Michael’s Mount is 20 minutes’ drive away, by the way. Hayle Rugby Club Campsite has nine acres of land with limited access, set up for simple tents-only camping. The site’s shared with the RFC, who have a great dog-friendly clubhouse (grab a drink there) and a seating area (a prime spot for sunset). Barbecues are welcome, as long as they are raised off the grass, but campfires are banned. On-site facilities include toilets, washing-up facilities and a tap for running water. There are also hot and cold ladies' and gents' showers (separated by curtains), open from 8am until the club closure (note that they are shut on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm to 9pm due to rugby training). Take a note: there's a Cornish Oven bakery on site open seven days per week. There’s also a bus stop within 50 metres of the site.

Liked Easy access, not huge so easy to get to facilities, perfect location. The club bar is open in the evenings, and a small bakery on site too. Everyone is super friendly, and many local amenities near by.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Laid back could park any where. Nice club house people friendly. Near main road easy to get too. Small retail park few minutes walk with a M and S grocery’s if you need.
There is a wash up area too to clean your pots and toilets.

Disliked The showers are community. You did have a curtain what went round everyone but my daughter still felt uncomfortable and I stayed with her. However the showers are free.

Proper job!

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked The welcome and the vibe. It's basic but also ideal for exploring cornwall, you use the rugby changing rooms and the wash facilities but they are adequate...if you are looking for 5 star luxury this isn't the place but if you want a bolt hole that gives you access to Cornwall beaches etc without the hefty price tag...it is!

Great people made my stay a pleasure.
