  • Back to basics Cornwall camping a mile inland from Fowey
  • Eden Project 15 minutes' drive; 25 minutes to Bodmin Moor
  • Beaches within walking distance; bus stop at the end of the road
Excellent walks, lovely views, peaceful fresh air… it’s all about the simple things when you pick a pitch at Prickly Post. This pop-up site is in a quiet Cornwall location a little way inland from Fowey (about five minutes’ drive from the town centre) and it’s a great spot for a back-to-basics break close to the coast. This is a simple site where you’ll have access to just the essentials, in the form of a fresh water tap and a flushing toilet (please note no showers on site). Other than that, it’s just plenty of space to soak up the coastal air, rest, relax – and perhaps watch the ponies ambling about. You’ll also be able to bring a barbecue or small firepit for the evening (pick up all the bits you need at shops in Fowey, or nip to the small shop at the local garage, five minutes’ walk away). Those who like to get out on foot should be pleased with the location here – you can walk to Fowey or Readymoney Cove in about 25 minutes, or Polkerris beach in about 40 minutes. The Saints Way and South West Coast Path are both close by for longer walks, and a bus stop at the end of the road to the site means you’ll have options for getting home if your legs get tired. Those bus services can also link you up to train services from Par railway station. Other nearby activity options include various watersports in Fowey or setting off to visit top attractions like the Eden Project, Bodmin Moor and Lost Gardens of Heligan (all within a half-hour drive).

Primitive grass trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked We loved the location, lovely walk down to Readymoney beach and Fowey. Very peaceful site, plenty of room for our children to play games. The owners were very helpful and made everything straightforward and easy. Toilet was clean and chimnea was lovely in the evening.

We had a lovely stay at Prickly Post, the hosts were welcoming,…

Primitive grass trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked We had a lovely stay at Prickly Post, the hosts were welcoming, super helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We were only staying one night but we loved the position of site, the location and decided to stay an extra night.
Waking up to see such beautiful countryside and horses was so peaceful.
The toilet on site was really clean too
We are returning in August and can’t wait.

Disliked There was nothing to dislike apart from putting a tent up in good old English weather 😜

Lovely position. Handy for the town. Pricey
