Got your heart set on Fowey as a place to stay? It’s an excellent choice – this cute little town is a real highlight of Cornwall, with a real sense of heritage as well as some gorgeous sea views. Keeping things very simple for a stay here is Lambs Barn Camping Ground, a wild camping site in a wooded valley on the edge of town, about a kilometre from the village centre. From here you'll also be able to walk along a footpath through the woods down to Readymoney beach, a sheltered sandy cove that’s fabulous for a dip in the sea. Longer walks might take you out onto the South West Coast Path, which runs along the entirety of Cornwall’s coastline, and there’s a bus stop just outside the site for longer jaunts around the county. This site is billed as having wild camping – and that’s almost true, as you’ll be settling down in nature-filled grass meadows for a real sense of countryside calm. There are, however, a few conveniences to make your stay a little more comfortable, including a water supply, gas-powered showers and portable toilets. Laundry facilities are close by if you need them. Down in Fowey you should find plenty to entertain yourselves, including watersports centres (with kayak and paddleboard hire) and riverside walks, plus shops, pubs and places to eat. There’s also a ferry service across the bay to Mevagissey (a route that’s well known for dolphin-spotting opportunities).

What customers say

This pop-up site offers a peaceful rural setting, a short walk to Fowey town and Readymoney Cove. Owner is praised for friendliness. Facilities are basic but functional; outdoor shower a highlight. Spacious pitches and quiet atmosphere are appreciated, though some note slopes. Recent improvements address earlier cleanliness concerns.

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Large field so plenty of room. Lovely and peaceful and a great location with a lovely woodland walk to Fowey and Readymoney Cove. Jon the owner was friendly and helpful with lots of info on the local area. Also a fantastic help jump starting our van due to a flat battery when we left 😂 We will definitely return 😊

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Nothing

Disliked All of it , drove in , turned round and drove out . Looked like someone had dropped a passport photo booth in the field and turned into the toilet /shiwer after breaking the gate open onto someone’s land .

From the manager: Martin you were told to leave Lambs Barn Camping, you are not the type of person who would be welcome here in our family environment! I have informed all relevant people that you are touring our beautiful county, of Cornwall.

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Friendly pop up campsite.
John the owner/warden was very friendly and offered great advice on the local amenities.
The cove is a very short walk down the hill, Fowey 10 minutes walk further and the kids loved the adventure walk through the woods back to the site.
The outdoor shower was amazing, we were a party of six and every one of us loved it.
The toilets and Elsan point are located just across the path and served our needs perfectly.
Fresh water point just as you enter the site.
This is a back to basic but wonderful campsite that we highly recommend and will be back.

Liked Close proximity to Fowey Town and lovely walk down to Readymoney Cove. Restrictions for dogs in summer. Fabulous walks along coast path to other bays which were dog friendly.
