When it’s time to escape to Cornwall – and you feel like a bit of luxury – hunker down in smart accommodation at Trevellan Magic Space. The units are set among woodland, so you can soak up the birdsong and watch out for butterflies, bats, toads and deer – be sure to do some stargazing on clear nights too, as the area is completely free from light pollution.
There’s bags of meadow and woodland to explore on site, with hand-made benches providing restful meditation (and picnic) spots under the trees. If you venture up to the stone circle at the top of the hill, your reward is spectacular views over the Cornish countryside to Helford Estuary.
What’s supplied at this eco-friendly spot: toilet roll and sawdust for the compost toilets, biodegradable washing-up liquid, pot scrubbers and cloths, body wash and shampoo. Please do not use any chemical products on site, and please use the sustainable firewood provided for barbecues or fires. One basket of wood is available for free and more can be purchased during your stay.
What you need to bring: towels, bedding and kitchen equipment (the owners can provide basic cooking kits for an extra charge). You may also want to pack a torch, suitable footwear for walking through the woods, and bags that are easy to carry, although wheelbarrows are on hand to help move your gear to the pitches from the car park.

Local attractions
The site owners can organise all manner of activities like reiki and yoga, foraging sessions and gong baths if that’s your thing, or you can head out on peaceful walks across fields to the Potager Garden (15 minutes’ stroll) with its popular veggie and vegan café in a restored greenhouse (open Thursday to Sunday for advance bookings). Carry on for another 15 minutes, and you’ll be at the village of Constantine, which has two shops, one famous for its collection of whiskies and wines.
Another pleasant ramble along quiet lanes and bridleways takes you to Port Navas (40 minutes) on the Helford Estuary. This pretty village has a public slipway, marina and tiny bar/restaurant (open Thursday to Saturday) with a range of drinks, daily-changing menus and snacks.
Climb into the car to visit the Cornish Seal Sanctuary at Gweek (10 minutes’ drive), where you can get up close to otters, sea lions and penguins as well. Trevellan Magic Space is also only 15 minutes from lively coastal Falmouth, with its excellent transport facilities, beaches and variety of indie shops, restaurants and bars.

Anonymous Yurt (woodland, no pets, five person)
Liked Beautiful place, we felt very at home, it was really tranquil and fun to explore. The yurt is beautiful and easy to warm up and stay cosy. The host was extremely accommodating and easily contacted about any questions. Everything was provided, or easily borrowed. We had a very comfortable, relaxing stay. It may not be safe for some small chidren due to the woodburner, but ours is used to them. We would definitely stay again and look forward to returning.
