  • Family and couples' site on the Devon/Cornwall border
  • A mile and a half from Bude and its beaches
  • Golf, sports barn, farmyard animals and nature trails
'In the countryside, by the sea' is how the Colwill clan describe their site Wooda Farm Holiday Park on the Devon/Cornwall border, which will sound pretty perfect to those who sometimes dither between both as a location for their holiday… Wooda is a park for families and couples, run by the Colwills since 1975, with lush views of the Cornish coastline and the countryside, and loads to do for time spent on site, like pitch and putt, a sports barn with fitness suite and badminton, and activities like archery and tennis in school holidays. Want to take things a tad more easily? Wander and wildlife watch around Wooda Farm's 40 acres of parkland or take a book to the park gardens. The kids will likely want to meet the four pygmy goats, chickens and lambs that live on the farm, and when (if) they finally tire of that, they can roam among the woodland paths and nature trails or hang out in the games and TV room. For the under-fives, bouncing around the toddlers' playroom (with Wendy house, slide, bean bags, ride-on toys and a new soft play area) should be a bit of a hit. The Wooda Farm amenities – three shower and toilet blocks with hairdryers and sockets, disabled facilities, undercover dishwashing sinks, campers' kitchen and a washing point for wetsuits – are excellently maintained, and the park also has a well-stocked licensed shop, a launderette and wifi. Plenty of picks for food are on hand too, with home-cooked meals (and plenty of picks for beer and wine) on hand in The Yard – Coffee, Bar & Kitchen. This is alongside a variety of local pop-up food vans that attend on various evenings and takeaway food in The Lodge. Bringing the pooch? There's even a special shower for mucky pups who've been running around the extensive dog walking area.

Upper Meadow primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Plenty of space on the upper meadow non-electric field despite being the first weekend of the summer holidays.
Beautifully maintained site, grass cut short, established plants etc
Nice clean showers and toilets.
Lovely bar with nice food and also a takeaway on site which we didn’t try due to the long queue.
Well equipped shop.
Convenient waste disposal areas.

Disliked WiFi a bit patchy in the upper meadow.

Upper Meadow primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Exceptional facilities, very well maintained and thought out, on site shop was very reasonable prices, the bar area is very good, staff helpful and friendly

Disliked The only complaint I have is that I think £12.50 for hook up is too expensive, that equates to over 50kw at current prices. We were on a non electric pitch but had a battery issue so had to move to a pitch with hookup. We were in a camper and I doubt if we used 1kw, I know some of the big motor homes can use a lot of electricity, so maybe have a tariff based on van type or on usage? You can’t argue that it pays for the facilities as not every one uses the hook up.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked We received a warm and informative welcome at reception. Lots of space to park whilst getting booked in. Our pitch had all that we had pre requested which was fab. The facilities block was amazing 10/10, and I made use of the really good laundry services too. Not obvious how to pay by card as the card reader is tucked around the corner near the ironing board, a little sign would be helpful as others were having the same issue locating it.
We enjoyed an evening of live music from the sea shanty group consisting of guys from the RNLI . Really entertaining. Had a couple of cocktails and drinks from the bar during our stay. We didn't have any food due to food intolerances but it seemed very popular and smelt good. There is a good shortcut footpath to use on the perimeter of the field opposite the gates and this takes you into Bude avoiding having to walk in the road. Mostly downhill, but the opposite on the return trip, there is a pub on the way down which looked inviting and popular. The site was extremely well maintained and rhododendrons of various colours dotted around. The dog exercise field was generous and includes a few agility apparatus. Lovely walks on site through the woods. An amazing five days, a good base for our 5 days here and we would definitely return in the future.

Disliked The limited hours the coffee shop was open, there were occasions when we would have enjoyed a coffee but were unable. Someone had gone out and left their dog in one of the static accommodations and it cried a lot, not the fault of the site, but it did disturb the peace of the afternoon. I would like to think management will have picked up on this and had a word for the future. It doesn't seem to be the type of site to take any nonsense, evidenenced by the neat and tidy premises and efficient staff.

Liked Absolutely everything. Lots for everyone to do, and lots of availability to do it when we visited ( end of June). Staff very helpful and two minutes from Bude beach.

Disliked The crepe van not staying until advertised time!

From the manager: Dear Susan,

Thank you for leaving such a lovely review following your stay as we appreciate all the great comments that you have made regarding the park and location, the facilities we have to offer and of our staff.

I am however sorry to read that the food van offering crepes did not stay on the park for the duration advertised. This was an outside company and I will therefore pass your feedback onto the food and beverage manager regarding this.

We hope to welcome you back to Wooda in the near future.

Kind Regards,

From the manager: Dear Paul,

Thank you for kindly taking the time to leave a review as we appreciate the lovely comments that you made following your stay.

The bus service that stops at Wooda is run by the Go Cornwall Bus company and unfortunately the service and timetable set by them is beyond our control Guests who wish to go into Bude by bus on a Saturday can however catch a bus in Poughill which is a 10 minute walk from the park.

We hope to welcome you back to Wooda in the future.

Kind Regards,
