What customers say
This well-kept, tranquil campsite offers spacious, private spots divided by trees. Guests rave about the prime location, with easy walking access to Bude, its beaches, and shops. Staff are usually friendly and helpful. While the site's layout is praised, some found the restrooms basic, dated, and needing upgrades, with occasional cleanliness and hot water issues.

From the manager: Dear Pitchup Team,
I am writing to request the removal of the 4/10 review left by Paul Powton for his recent stay at our campsite.
Mr. Powton booked one of our main electric pitches, and this was exactly what was provided for the duration of his stay. In his review, he implies that there were “other spaces” available and that he did not receive what he paid for. The “other spaces” he refers to are non-electric pitches — a different category and price point — and were not part of his booking.
His comments therefore misrepresent the facts and may mislead potential customers into believing we did not honour his booking, which is not the case. We always ensure guests receive the exact pitch type they book.
Given that the review is based on inaccurate information, we believe it falls within the scope of removal under Pitchup’s policy against misleading or false statements.
We would be grateful if you could review this matter and consider removing the review from our listing.
Good site, just what we wanted and we would definitely stay again

Liked The site itself was very pretty and well maintained. The site was off the main A39 road however we could not hear the traffic from the pitches so that wasn’t an issue. It had a reception and basic wash / toilet facilities, a washing up area and laundry facilities, for the cost of the pitch compared to other sites in the area it was very reasonably priced and ideal for a base to visit Cornwall. The site was not busy at all considering it was August and the pitches were a decent size. The staff were friendly and helpful. We especially liked the park and ride which was a two minute walk from the site or we could do the 20 minute walk into Bude along the well marked out route along the paths and river.
Disliked As others have mentioned the toilets and showers are very basic and could do with modernising but they were useable and were clean and for the cost of the pitch compared to other sites it was a small compromise.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked The grounds of the campsite were very well kept and clean. Pitches were a good size. Good location for getting into Bude and to the beach.
Disliked The need to have to go to reception to use the freezer for our ice packs as it governs our day. One staff member told us we needed to pay to use the freezer which was not stated when booking the campsite and we have never had this before at any campsite however this was not told to us when we first put them in the freezer when another member of staff was on the desk so I feel there needs to be better communication between staff members on the front desk as we were being told different things. Facilities are very basic which wasn’t an issue as such but we felt the toilet block at the bottom was much better quality than the toilet block up the top of the field.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback — we’re pleased you appreciated the well-kept grounds and the convenient location.
We’d like to clarify a couple of points for future guests:
We do allow campers to store ice packs in our freezer, and we simply ask for a small donation to the RNLI — a charity we support. This is not a commercial charge, and it’s entirely voluntary for normal use.
In this case, the level of usage was unusually high and, after discussion, we asked for a higher donation to reflect that. We’re sorry if this wasn’t made clear from the outset — we’ve reminded staff to communicate this consistently.
Regarding the facilities: the upper and lower toilet blocks differ slightly due to the layout of the site, but both are cleaned thoroughly and regularly maintained.
Thanks again for your visit, and we wish you happy camping wherever you go next.
I wouldn’t if I was you!

Liked I’m struggling…
Disliked The sloping pitches, the dirty toilets and showers, the position of the campsite to Bude (a horrible and dangerous walk on a busy road), the early closure of reception, the bin men arriving at 07:41am, our wake up call…

From the manager: We’re disappointed to read this review, especially as many of the claims are inaccurate and unfair.
You arrived by bicycle with a small tent for one night stay and were allocated Pitch 10 — which is completely flat. The grounds at Atlantic Camping are gently sloping overall, accommodating you and your small tent on pitch 10 had no issues.
The toilets and showers are basic but cleaned several times daily, and many guests comment positively on their cleanliness. Your suggestion is seen as wilful and exaggerated.
Your description of the walk into Bude as “dangerous” is simply untrue. There is a dedicated footpath and pavement the entire way into town and the beaches. At no point are guests expected to walk on a busy road.
Regarding the bins: they are emptied once a week by an external contractor (Biffa), who services many locations across the area. The collection time is outside our control, but necessary for site cleanliness and hygiene.
Finally, our reception hours are clearly advertised in advance, and we remain available for assistance outside of those hours if needed.
We are always open to constructive feedback, but this review does not reflect the experience you actually had and misrepresents several key aspects of the site.

Liked Lovely looking site. The pitches are well kept and offer a nice level of privacy. Really close to Bude so beaches and town accessible.
Disliked Only complaint I have is that the lights in the toilets only stay on for about 10 seconds at a time. Trying to do what you need to do whilst simultaneously waving your arms like a lunatic to avoid sitting in the dark is not easy!

Primitive grass campsite
Liked The site on the whole was lovely. Beautiful shrubs & plants. Walkable distance to bude shortcut via the campsite footpath & through the industrial park. Or the park & ride just across the road. Summer season only.Would be good to make improvements on the toilets/showers.
Disliked The showers & toilets are very basic. Plywood with galvanised roof. Gaps around doors. No hand drying, blowers or paper towels. Could do with improvement to bring it in keeping with the rest of the site. It would make such a difference. We stayed just the 1 night as we were passing through. On arrival we were told by the man in reception we were not allowed to empty our toilet cassette on our stay as we were only booked for 1 night & that they had to make some money! Not shown a map of the site on arrival. Just told our pitch number & left to find it.

Small rustic site in peaceful location
Powered grass campsite
Liked Great location just off A39. Good sized pitch with planted areas between each pitch for good privacy. Very peaceful site. Nicely landscaped. EHU and water easily accessible.
Disliked Toilet and shower cabins need a bit of TLC. The door bolts are really rusty and hard to close. There are big gaps around some of the doors that make it possible to see into the cabins while you're in there. The toilet flushing buttons are broken on several of the toilets making them hard to flush. The level of cleanliness could be improved - quite dirty floors in some of the toilets, foliage growing in from the outside under the walls, lots of cobwebs.
