Peaceful location, shepherd's hut spot on with direct access to woods
Shepherd's hut
Liked Shepherd's hut was of a high quality, very clean with nice touches to make a warm welcome. Fortunate location right next to Cardinham woods for direct access to some lovely walks. Peaceful area with host more than happy to help ensure your stay is pleasant.
Would we mark them down on anything?... no, nothing to note.
We thank them for their hospitality.

Perfect location and facilities for exploring Cornwall
Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite
Liked Very nice location with friendly polite hosts who are also very helpful and accommodating. Ideally located for the things we wanted to see and do around Cornwall. Facilities provided were very good compared to elsewhere I’ve used in the past (bring a gas stove though if you want to cook/heat anything as it’s not provided)
Disliked Not the hosts fault but the weather is was very wet the week we went but didn’t stop us from doing and seeing what we wanted to do and see.

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite
Liked A wonderful small campsite in a beautiful location, friendly owners and get facilites. They were especially accommodating for disability access needs, i.e. a shower chair and resolved queries about access and logistics before the visit too. Superb! The fire pit was a lovely touch and sitting waiting to see otters and kingfishers in the nearby stream was magical.

Power optional grass and earth campervan or tent campsite
Liked Quiet location by a pretty stream, direct access to forest walks, just as we wanted. It felt idealic in many ways as while we had access to electricity, wifi, and clean kitchen / toilet / shower, our tent was pitched right next to the stream and surrounded by forest, complete with log fire in the evening. The place felt spacious and private.
Disliked M5 traffic.

Liked Scenic, peaceful, small site. Individual pitches are not too close together. Lovely shower room plus separate loo. Owners very welcoming. Lots of touches to make camping pleasant, such as lights in the trees and log seating around the campfire by the stream (logs available). Easy access to walks in Cardinham Woods.

Shepherd's hut
Liked It was a lovely ensuite shepherds hut in the middle of a woodland which was just what we needed after a busy year and it had plenty of dog walks. Bodmin town was close enough when we needed supplies, we also travelled 40 minutes to Newquay for the beach and it had so many dog friendly beaches for my dog Marley. Trevor was a great host and very helpful. There was only five pitches at the camp site which made it nice and private.
Disliked Marley had to be kept on a lead around the outside of shepherds hut, which he is not used to doing at home. It would be good if there was a enclosed area around the shepherds so that he could be off lead at times.

From the manager: Hello Michelle. Thanks for the review. We are sorry you were not able to review us more positively on everything. We did make it clear when you booked that wifi was not available in the hut, and believe we even offered to try to get you a connection, but you chose not to. With regard to dogs on leads, you will be aware that such is not uncommon on shared sites such as ours. Nonetheless, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes. Langs Mill.
Lovely, well-equiped site.
Power optional grass and earth campervan or tent campsite
Liked A really lovely site, set at the edge of Cardinham Woods, boundaried by a shallow brook (perfect for the children to wade in!) Trevor and Claire could not have been more welcoming, checking in periodically without imposing. The facilities are great - a lovely shower room, and separate toilet, plus a washing up space with both hot and cold water. Several of the pitches have electric hookups, too. Heartily recommended.

From the manager: Thanks very much Carina. Hope the journey back home wasn.t too arduous. Best wishes. Trevor and Claire
Peace and quiet, beautiful, friendly welcome and spotless facilities.
Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite
Liked Peace and quiet, beautiful woodland and stream scenery and sounds, friendly welcome and helpful walking tips, clean facilities, friendly fellow campers.
Trevor was helpful and communicative from the moment we booked. On arrival we were guided to a delightful pitch, right next to the stream. We loved the low key, low tech, low intervention of the site. Perfect. The walk into Cardinham forest was great and the cafe was as delicious as we had been told. Then we walked further the other way to Bury Castle on the advise of Trevor - a wonderfully varied walk of woods, fields, ancient stones and sheep. Look forward to coming back.

From the manager: Hi Nicky and Nick
It was great to meet you and we are pleased that our little place ticks your boxes.
Its the peace and quiet that makes this place so special, we feel. We look forward to next time. Trevor and Claire
Nice family weekend
Shepherd's hut
Liked I loved the shepherd's hut, was very clean and tidy. Nice toilet and en-suite. Nice gesture with some beer and shortbread. Tea and coffee was also available. Everything you needed was there. Loved the stream and the camp fire area. Didn’t overly use the communal showers or toilets but they were cleaned everyday. The walks were not that far away. We did two , the scenery was amazing.
Disliked I disliked the drive down, very narrow . The camp was very wet, I wish it was a bit dryer and less slippy.
Not the owners fault though, we were well looked after and the owners were very friendly.

From the manager: Thanks for the review Charlotte. It's a shame you had to score us down on things which you say are not our fault, like the lane being too narrow for you and the weather being too wet for you.
The point about wifi in the actual hut is fair. Most people are actually quite happy about that, as it gives them an excuse to properly switch off. And there is good wifi everywhere else on site, as you know.
We can't win them all, I guess...
