  • Friendly West Sussex campsite with handy indoor space
  • A 10-minute drive from Selsey and Chichester
  • Indoor 'beach' area with sandpit, books and games
Find your new happy place at Creative Camping, an aptly named campsite close to the West Sussex coastline. Located midway between Selsey on the coast and the historic city of Chichester, this laidback spot is a top pick for families and friends looking for a getaway somewhere just that little bit different. As well as the well-maintained pitches and green outdoor area, Creative Camping has a spacious indoor area for guests to enjoy. Come and relax on the indoor 'beach', sit back on one of the comfy chairs, let the kids play in the sandpit or take your pick of the games and books on offer. The indoor space also has a lounge and dining area, a kitchen with sinks, two toilets, two showers, a changing room and a baby changing table. When you spend time outside, you'll appreciate the site's quiet location away from the road and the natural feel of the place – sit back and relax and it's quite likely that you'll see birds of prey flying overhead. Dogs are welcome here and there's easy access to footpaths in the local area for their walks. The sensible use of open fires and barbecues is allowed, and guests can make use of the site's big barbecue and pizza oven. Handily, Sidlesham village centre, where there is a pub, is about a quarter of a mile away to the north.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Really quirky campsite. Good pitches, very helpful and friendly owner/operator. Good location, close to beach and Chichester. Very clean and tidy. Located a short walk from the anchor pub which does amazing cheese croquettes. DOG FRIENDLY! The fire pits were a delightful bonus. Didn't fancy braving the open air showers in mid may. I'm sure they are lovely in the height of summer. The indoor kitchen/seating area is a nice bonus too.

Disliked The only downside is the proximity to the road. Fine overnight but got a little loud in the morning.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This was our second visit and we brought friends and family this time, overall it is the best campsite for us and the best we'd been too, so much to do for the kids and lovely toilets and showers. A kettle and microwave that is free to use for everyone plus shared fridge and freezer. An indoor area which was ideal as we had a little rain and we could all sit inside together to play cards. The firepits and BBQs are free to use. The pitches are large, our friends had a large tent plus gazebo and there was plenty of room. I love how the campsite is small and you can see the children no matter where your pitch is. There is a pretorl station next door should you need anything from the shop and I think it is 24hours, or there is a Asda down the road about a 10 minute drive.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The site is small and quaint. They cater really well for families with children. Particularly liked the fact they allowed bbq and fire pits. Additionally they had free bbq's and fire pits to borrow as well.

The beach space and indoor area was great, the craft area was also useful when we had a 2hr downpour.

Disliked The early check out time, would have loved to stay a bit later into the day.

Local attractions

There are all sorts of coastal corners you'll want to explore while in West Sussex, from the wildlife haven wetlands of RSPB Pagham Harbour (five minutes' drive) to the cheerful seafront at Selsey (10 minutes) or the sandy stretches of West Wittering (15 minutes). Slightly further afield, it's easy to get to other maritime spots, whether you fancy a day trip to the seaside resort and pleasure harbour at Littlehampton (30 minutes) or want to walk around the historic dockyards of Portsmouth (30 minutes). Jaunts to the bright lights and vintage shops of Brighton (an hour and 10 minutes) are also on the cards if you fancy a really special day out. There's also much to see and do inland locally, with many of the prettiest parts of the South Downs National Park just a short drive away. While you're in the area, make sure to check out pretty historic country estates like Arundel Castle (25 minutes), and if ancient history's your thing you can make tracks for the mosaics and columns of Fishbourne Roman Palace (15 minutes).
