  • Peaceful family-friendly site set in ancient West Sussex woodland
  • Sheffield Park five minutes’ drive; Millennium Seed Bank 20 minutes
  • Firepits available; solar-powered showers; food trucks at the weekend
Tucked into the South Downs in the middle of West Sussex, Kitts Campsite is peaceful and family friendly, offering three camping meadows surrounded by 100s of acres of woodland (well-behaved dogs will enjoy accompanying you on walks through the trees) in the spectacular High Weald National Landscape. The shops and restaurants of Haywards Heath are 10 minutes’ drive, and the lovely gardens and lakeside walks of Sheffield Park are five minutes away by car. This may be a back-to-basics site but there are enough facilities to keep everyone cheerful – the Sussex-timber field barn has flushing toilets, solar-powered showers and an undercover washing-up area. Every pitch has a firepit and there’s a wood-delivery service every evening. Massages and sauna treatments can be arranged by booking in advance, and on Saturdays, the Kitts Café serves hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes and toasted paninis. Come 6pm, the Loveabowl food truck serves delicious curry; turn up in hope there's some left, or let them know your order in advance. Alternatively, you can head for the country pub about 10 minutes’ walk away through the ancient woodland.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Huge site with several fields surrounded by mature trees. Loads of space and completely free of traffic noise. We were there during the heatwave so were glad to find a pitch in the shade of a large tree.
It seemed odd that there is no reception and we saw no sign of the owners during our 1 night stay. Apparently they hadn't been seen the previous day either

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked A beautiful campsite with perfect facilities, the ideal balance between wildness and comfort, with easy footpaths directly from the site.
Claire was also very accommodating to my request for a quieter pitch, even on her busiest weekend.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Fantastic site. Really friendly and welcoming host. Plenty of space. Great facilities. Campfires encouraged and host even delivers the wood to your pitch. On a hot day, free ice poles were offered to the children. Clean toilets and showers. Rules were respected by all. Back to basics site with lovely unexpected extras. Rustic food was available to buy on Fridays and Saturdays as well as coffee on a Sunday morning. Whilst we were there massages were also available to purchase. Loads to see and do either by car or on foot. Great location too.

Disliked Nothing. Keep up the fantastic work. Love it. Thank you

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Quiet campsite - perfect for relaxing. Amazing facilities - hot showers,
Clean toilets and an area to wash up (also hot water!) the pitches were really spread apart so you really weren’t disturbed by others. The campsite was surrounded by woods which you could walk through to get to The Sloop pub one side and the 360 taproom the other - both great places to hang out with inside and outside tables and food.
Each pitch had a fire pit and wood was available to purchase each afternoon - delivered to your pitch and you could pay by card.
You could order pizzas and other street food in the evenings and there was a bell tent for massages too.
It really was the most perfect campsite - we will return!!

Disliked Nothing - honestly - it was an amazing stay
