What customers say

This campsite offers a tranquil, remote "wild camping" experience amidst beautiful countryside with stunning views and great access to hiking trails, including the South Downs Way. Guests consistently praise the friendly host, Rachel, spacious sites, and clean portaloos. While facilities are basic, visitors love the peaceful atmosphere, campfires, and dark skies for stargazing. Despite a bumpy access road and spotty cell service, it's highly recommended for a back-to-basics getaway.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Lovely secluded field next to woods with nice views. At the bottom of the long lane is a great pub in a quinticential old English village. The owner Rachel was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. The field is so large, there is plenty of space for everyone

Disliked The lane is best suited to mountain bikes as its quite stoney. The field is gentlely sloped so finding a perfect flat pitch can be a challenge. A 4x4 would be handy when the field is really wet.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked The track to the field felt like an adventure in itself, bumpy but not unpleasant at all if you’re sensible, the field was well kept and pretty, the utilities were simple and effective, the atmosphere was peaceful, seeing livestock being moved around was a pleasant surprise, the host was kind, helpful and cheerful.

I use this site when I visit Goodwood circuit. It adds exactly the right amount of fun to the weekend. Off the beaten track so you have a little fun getting there (but aren’t risking anything). I’ll happily continue to visit here.

Located very close by to the circuit with a pleasant drive to and from there.

As with anywhere, if you respect the surroundings you’ll have a better experience

Camped in a T6 VW Transporter

Disliked The toilet unit by the tap was on a slight slant (cannot think of any other issues)

Potentially not ideal for a slammed car with no clearance

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Lovely back-to-basics camp site in a beautiful remote location surrounded by wildlife. Don’t expect much, which is the appeal! Water and toilets which is all that’s needed. Rachel is a great host - as are the Owls!

Disliked Track up is a bit rough, so don’t take your low slung sports car up there ;) For us this is a massive pro!

Local attractions

A stay at Newhouse Farm puts you in pole position for the numerous festivals at Goodwood Estate, but the campsite is just as close to the fascinating Weald and Downland Living Museum (both 10 minutes’ drive), with its carefully restored historic farmhouses and half-timbered cottages. Chichester (25 minutes) is another cultural hotspot with a Gothic-era cathedral and events at the acclaimed Festival Theatre. Equally unmissable is the verdant West Dean Gardens (15 minutes), with its fabulous display of informal plantings, pretty waterside walks and Victorian glasshouses. There’s a stellar collection of Old Master paintings and ornate suites of rooms filled with priceless treasures at National Trust-owned Petworth House and Park, or you can step further back in time at Fishbourne Roman Palace (both 25 minutes) to see decorative mosaics in a life-size mock-up of an ancient Roman villa. If the kids want their day at the beach, choose between the sand-and-shingle expanse backed by cafés and amusement arcades at Bognor Regis or walk the dogs along the quiet sands at West Wittering (40 minutes).
