General

  • Peaceful five-acre rural site 10 minutes' walk from local pub
  • Around 10 minutes' drive from beaches at Pagham and Bognor Regis
  • Firepit area on site and five minutes' drive from a farm shop

Coast or country? Dither ye not, fair reader, for a stay at Lagnersh Shepherds Huts and Camping is one that has you handily placed for both.

This peaceful site has five acres of gorgeous West Sussex countryside to its name, giving guests plenty of space from which to watch buzzards flying overhead or look out for the deer that sometimes drop in to graze. Fancy seeing a bit more? Clamber over the stile to stride forth on local footpaths, or drive for 15 minutes up to the South Downs National Park.

‘Like living in the middle of nowhere but only 10 minutes from civilisation’ is how the folks here describe their place. Canny guests may have already guessed that refers to the presence of a pub a short stroll away for homemade food and local ales. A little further along (five minutes’ drive) is a well-stocked farm shop for all the bits you need for a barbecue or a top-notch night at the site’s firepit area.

Time to swap the rural views for some sea air? It’ll take you about 10 minutes to drive to Pagham or Bognor Regis, or around 20 for Climping and the Witterings.

We had plenty of room, as the site was very quiet when we stayed. It is flat and well kept so we were comfortable in our tent. The owner, Julie was most helpful and made us feel very welcome. The facilities are basic but as we were expecting wild camping, a pleasant surprise that we were able to shower.

I wouldn't call this a campsite as it was just a field with one toilet and shower for each gender and to make it worse the toilet was in with the shower never again and it was far too expensive for what it was

The lady who runs this site could not have been kinder to me and my young son. The facilities are well maintained and the surroundings are beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely rural location. It was the relaxing, peaceful break we were looking for.

Great campsite. Huge field and with only half a dozen tents it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Really helpful owner with good local advice. Minimal background traffic noise and didn't disturb sleep. Very handy for choice of beaches, Goodwood, Chichester etc. Have seen, and recognise, some comments regarding the limited toilet/shower facilities. Would be an issue if the site was busy but for our visit it was no issue at all. Will visit again for sure.

We had a lovely stay at the Shepherd's Huts. Julie was friendly and helpful. Campsite was peaceful and quiet. Shepherd's Hut was really cute and had everything we could need. Shower was powerful and bathroom was clean. Gorgeous towels were provided for our stay. Microwave, toaster and fridge were good and useful. Bed was comfortable. Pub was 5 minute drive and had great food. Would recommend.

    Disliked:

There was nothing we disliked. We experienced very hot weather when we stayed and I would advise bringing a small fan if coming in hotter weather.
