Hammonds Glamping: Deluxe bell tent interior

General

  • Family-friendly glamping on a farm next to Surrey Hills; dogs welcome
  • In the National Trust's Hatchlands Park, with complimentary access
  • Gastropubs, restaurants and food shop within walking distance

Looking for a boost of wildlife near the Surrey Hills? From seeking out cycling, horse riding or hiking around the commons, slopes and assorted market towns in the area of outstanding natural beauty to relaxing in the grassy wildlife haven on site, the dog-friendly glamping at Hammonds Glamping is powered up for a recharge… and just 15 minutes’ drive from Guildford’s canals, medieval castle and independent shops.

Simply show up, lay down your bits and bobs and crack on with plotting out your plan of action (there’s lots of 4G internet access for that). Handily, there’s also an amenities block on site so you can freshen up before a big day out.

With plenty of space to stroll around the site and its surrounding woodlands, warm up with a walk before any activities out and about later in the day. A visit to the National Trust country house and 400-acre gardens at Hatchlands Park (located in the same grounds as the site) is a must – particularly because Hammonds Glamping guests get complimentary entry for the duration of their stay (what a lovely little bonus…).

When your stomach starts to grumble a little, there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance of the site, including a café and a gastropub with a beer garden and toasty log fire 10 minutes’ walk away, and several more places (including a Thai-inspired gastropub and an Indian restaurant) within 35 minutes’ walk of the site. As for fitting in a food shop, stock up at the small shop 15 minutes’ walk away.

Please note this is a quiet site that doesn't accept stag or hen parties. For extra peace of mind, a member of staff is on call here at all times.

Please note

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the park are unlit.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Protective masks must be worn at all times in common areas.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Very helpful and friendly staff on site. Lovely location in National Trust park and grounds. Great level and spacious pitches, just the right number of well presented tents not too close to each other. Benches and firepit outside tents. Good clean showers and toilet facilities. Kids loved having goal posts and tent with table tennis which helped them make friends with other children on site.

Hammonds Glamping was excellent! The tent was big and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The setting is ideal - both for couples and families. The ablutions were clean and the coffee truck was a treat. The local walks were fantastic as was the pub. We took a train from London to Horsley and an Uber to the site ( Uber was only £6.00) as we don't own a car and it was very doable! We hired a cooler box and we were kindly given ice. The site is very well attended and the host were attentive and readily available! We will certainly return!

Lovely location within a National Trust park meant plenty of exploring for the kids. Walking distance to a pub or two and a couple of shops, fresh coffee available on site in the mornings along with firewood etc. Short drive to a couple of theme parks.
Very friendly staff made us feel right at home and were always available.

What an absolutely brilliant holiday! Our family of 6 (2 teenage boys, 2 parents and 2 dogs) had the best time away! Hammonds Glamping is well organised, beautifully located and has everything you need for a few days away from home! I would highly recommend Hammonds Glamping for anyone who wants to be out in nature but wants the tent taken care of for them! Hot showers, clean ablutions and even a cappuccino van for the mornings! We will definitely be back - thank you once again!

Local attractions

If cars are the type of thing to get your engine revving, Brooklands Museum (20 minutes’ drive) is a motor and aviation museum with a Concorde fleet on show. Similarly, Mercedes-Benz World (20 minutes) has car displays and racing simulators so that you can really feel like you're in the driver’s seat.

Afterwards, strap in for a ride on a rollercoaster instead (or the other crazy rides) at the Thorpe Park (30 minutes) theme park.

Take refuge in the National Trusts sites within reach of the site, including the estate and gardens at Polesden Lacey (15 minutes) and the champion tree trails and flowers around the Winkworth Arboretum (half an hour).

Find another horticultural visit over at the RHS Garden Wisley (15 minutes), including gardens with a grand wisteria collection. The Savill Garden (25 minutes) blooms with more plants and horticultural displays, as well as the chance to cycle or rollerblade around the garden. Meanwhile, Hampton Court Palace (25 minutes) has more grand gardens and a huge baroque palace, once home to Tudor families.
