Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Very quiet nice place and first campsite in England where you can take a nice stroll into woods directly from the campsite.

Disliked The missing showers were not the problem at all, but the standard of the washing area and toilets is very low.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: I'm sorry you disliked the standard of the newly built washing up area. It has high quality stainless steel sinks and taps with white tile effect splashback, copious amounts of hot water, a brand new fridge and a multitude of usb charging points (As per photos on Pitch Up). It's of a good standard for an off-grid camping experience.
You also found the toilets below standard, but clean. There was the correct amount of toilets on site to cope with the amount of pitches. They all flushed and had an ample supply of toilet roll and a mirror. I'm sorry I don't understand what more anyone would require from a toilet.
I'm glad you found the site quiet and ventured into the lovely woodland during your one night stay, on the bank holiday weekend.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely site and location. Basic but clean facilities: somewhere to do washing up and charge our phones, one flushing toilet at the top of the site and 2 portaloos in the main field. Lots of nice walks and things to see locally: I went to Sissinghurst Castle which was beautiful. Friendly owner who regularly checked in to see if people were ok and kindly froze my ice packs for me.

Disliked I wasn't able to get any Wifi where I was camped at the bottom of the orchard but I was there to get-away from it all so it wasn't an issue!

It was a Bank Holiday weekend and the owner felt the site was going to be quite busier. We were directed to camp at the bottom of the orchard and there were a few other tents next to us in our corner. Everyone was lovely but the field is huge and we could all actually have been much more spaced out.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked An idyllic rural location set in an orchard with lots of great walks and things to do nearby. Diane who runs the site is super friendly and this sets the tone for everyone else. It’s a very friendly and relaxed place for all generations. The village pub does a great Sunday lunch and there is a lovely walk from the campsite to get to it. Whilst no showers and EHU there are thoughtful facilities like fridge, cooler, phone charging availability….

Local attractions

Kent is known for its historic stately homes – but which to visit first? Leeds Castle (25 minutes’ drive) has a host of activities, from guided tours to jousting tournaments and raptor displays, to keep families entertained all day. There are rose gardens to wander in Sissinghurst Castle Garden (10 minutes), and at moated Scotney Castle (25 minutes) you can follow trails through landscaped parkland. There’s more active stuff to do too; kids with energy to burn can wear themselves out on zipwires or mountain-biking trails at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest (20 minutes), or on the inflatable course at Bewl Water Aqua Park (25 minutes). Younger children can cuddle the cute creatures at Buttercups Sanctuary For Goats (20 minutes), and any rainy-day issues are taken care of by the indoor pool at The Weald Sports Centre (10 minutes). If you’ve treated the kids to their day out, you deserve some me-time too. How about heading into Royal Tunbridge Wells (40 minutes) to browse indie shops or lunch in the cosy bistros of The Pantiles? And if you fancy a night out, book tickets for shows at the Trinity or Assembly Hall theatres.
