  • Small family-run campsite set in woodland alongside the River Medway
  • Leeds Castle and Bewl Water Aqua Park both 25 minutes’ drive
  • Water sports, walking and biking from the pitches; licensed café
Set in four acres of woodland bordering the River Medway and 15 minutes’ drive from Tonbridge in Kent, Branbridges Leisure is a small family-run site with all sorts of camping and glamping options to suit all sorts of people – and their dogs, of course. And once you get there, you’ll discover there are all sorts of things to do around and about the site too; it’s on the Medway Canoe Trail – a huge draw for water-sports enthusiasts who can kayak and splash around to their heart’s content. Bring your own gear (a small launch fee is applied) or hire everything on site. Walkers and cyclists can follow the Medway Valley Walk along the river right from their pitches – with the added bonus that there are many pubs for refreshment stops along the way. The site also includes a small fishing lake stocked with carp, roach, perch and chub as well as a stretch along the banks of the Medway. The fishing is free for all campsite guests. When you need an energy boost after all that activity, head for the licensed on-site café serving locally sourced menus and eat overlooking the river. Prefer self-catering? Bring your own barbecues (the café can supply barbecue packs) and firepits, or hire them on site, where you can buy buckets of wood, along with camping essentials, in the pop-up shop. For anything else, there’s a small convenience store opposite the site.

What customers say

This peaceful, family-friendly campground features spacious, private sites surrounded by nature, many near a lake or river. Guests loved the exceptionally friendly, helpful staff, clean amenities, and activities for all ages like fishing and paddleboarding. The on-site cafe and nearby shops were also a hit. Small downsides: occasional restroom lines, mosquitoes, and shower fees. Highly recommended, with many planning to return.

Primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked "A perfect little escape!
We stayed just one night, but it was enough to fall in love with this peaceful lakeside camping spot. The setting is absolutely serene—waking up to the sound of birds and the gentle ripple of the lake was magical. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We especially loved the easy access to the fishing lake—such a relaxing way to spend the evening. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind in nature, even if just for a night!"

Waterfront safari tent

Liked We stayed in the waterside safari tent for two nights and had such a lovely relaxing time. The tent had everything you need and was lovely to bbq on the decking and then move to the firepot for some marshmallows and more relaxing into the evening. Lots of lovely nature and wildlife and a secluded spot away from other campers on the main campsite. All the staff were so lovely and helpful and would really reccomend a stay here!

Thank you for the relaxing reset we both needed!

Disliked Nothing!

Primitive forest floor RV campsite (woodland)

Liked Lovely setting in woodland and a lovely walked in the centre so wherever your tent is you have views of the lake. There’s an onsite caffe serving food and drink all day with toilets including baby changing facilities and disabled facilities. Also onsite there’s 2 showers and a toilet. Just outside the camp through the side gate is the river Medway and you can hire canoes or paddle boards on site or take your own and launch for a small fee. For children there’s large games set out on the central green a fishing for the children and adults is also free in the central lake and there also chickens and a goat that are also very friendly. Just outside the camp and a 2 minute walk is a petrol station and co-op if you need food supplies and of course fuel and that’s 24 hours. The people who run the site are very friendly and helped me out of a situation when my battery went flat on my car because I left my coolbox attached to it all night so lesson learnt there. Gates get locked every night but your given the code incase you want to go out for a walk or to the local amenities at any time.

Disliked Only thing I would have liked to see was electric hook ups on some of the plots if you was in need of them. They are making the site bigger so hopefully that’s something they will add in time as it would be a pretty easy thing to add with the way they have set out the plots.

From the manager: Thanks so much! This is great to hear. We were more than happy to help you with your car trouble too 😊

Yes we are planning to extend and add to the site, logistics of power around the woods is tricky but certainly something we are looking at for the future.

Great spot for a long weekend stay.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked We had 2 woodland pitches, loved the privacy of this. Helpful staff/owner? Grassed area with games etc was a nice touch. Walk along the river was really lovely and watching a boat pass through the Loch was great fun. Cafe onsite nice option but we didn't need to use.

Disliked Location of toilets when staying in woodland pitch was quite a distance, especially after dark, and loo roll ran out later in the evenings in all 3.
Pitch size slightly small for our large tent.
Mosquitos. Take lots of repellant.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks so much for your review 😊 We are sorry if you felt the location of the toilets was quite a distance. You was originally booked for the grass field, which would have been closer and changed to the woodland as we had pitches available there too. We do not allocate pitches, this way it allows campers have a walk around to choose based on their requirements/ tent sizes etc. Apologies for the loo roll! We replenish every night before we leave, it's hard to judge how much campers will go through.

Primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked We liked how friendly staff was on arrival, the pitches were very spaced out therefore felt private at times. Safe for the children who are 15 and 10 to walk around. We got lessons for paddle boarding and our instructor was super friendly and got all of us paddleboarding in no time. A truly enjoyable experience. The whole family cannot wait to visit again. Surrounding area was woodland and peaceful.

Primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked What an absolutely beautiful little campsite! Ideally situated right by the river so perfect for bringing our paddle boards and popping out whenever we wanted. The site itself is quiet and pretty, the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. We stayed on a busy booking weekend, a half term stay, but barely noticed other campers at all. Showers are cute and clean. Coop just over the road for anything you have forgotten. Cafe on site had excellent food and more than one vegan option. We will definitely be recommending the site to people we know and returning next year for another visit. You are quickly transported to another place entirely and honestly could be on holiday anywhere at all.

Disliked Tiny thing. The toilet door needs better privacy for night time. Net curtains do not work well at night when there is a light on inside!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks so much for wonderful review! Glad you had a great stay and thank you for bringing to my attention about the curtain :)

Primitive grass and gravel RV campsite (lake view)

Liked We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Branbridges Leisure. The pitches are spacious, the campsite quiet and relaxing, whilst also being family friendly. The site felt secure and safe, and the facilities clean and tidy. The staff welcoming and incredibly helpful. The lack of WiFi was refreshing so we could disconnect from our devices for a couple of days.

Disliked There was nothing we disliked about our stay.

Loved having the river so close by.
Short walk to local shop and takeaway a few minutes drive away was really convenient too.
