Sunset over the camping fields

  • Wild camping with only one pitch per field on a scenic Kent farm
  • English Channel views and a 15-minute drive from South Coast beaches
  • North Downs walking and cycling hotspot; five minutes’ walk from a pub
Sitting on one of the highest points in Kent, Cole Farm Seriously Wild Camping overlooks the Folkestone Downs and English Channel, with France just visible on very clear days. It’s been a working farm for centuries, and the open fields are still home to a small herd of cows. The pop-up camping concept here is simple: there is just one tent per field, so you can have a genuinely solitary wild camping adventure amid a pretty remote landscape. There’s a small toilet block on site, but otherwise you’re on your own so bring in water, torches and any food for cooking on your campfire. A few people live on the farm, and they’re on hand for any questions or advice. Other than them, it’s just you, the field and the occasional inquisitive cow. There are some spectacular walking and cycling routes nearby, including the North Downs Way, Saxon Shore Way and King Charles III England Coast Path – and handily it’s only five minutes' stroll from the local pub when all you need is a decent pint.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked A Peaceful Wild Camping Gem – Highly Recommend!

We had a fantastic stay wild camping on this beautiful farm. The field we camped in was completely ours for the night, offering total peace and privacy. As the sun set over the countryside, the sky lit up in the most stunning colours – it was truly magical.

Cows wandered freely around the fields, adding to the rural charm, and the whole place was incredibly quiet and relaxing. In the morning, we were greeted by birdsong – such a lovely, calming way to wake up.

There’s a basic toilet block and running water available, which was all we needed. Kevin, the farmer, was really helpful and friendly – he showed us exactly where to pitch and introduced us to his lovely dogs, who were all well-behaved and added to the friendly atmosphere.

It’s a short, pleasant walk to the local pub, and there are some fantastic walking routes nearby if you want to explore the area. Despite feeling wonderfully remote, it’s only a few minutes’ drive to Folkestone and the Channel Tunnel.

If you’re looking for a peaceful escape close to nature but not too far off the beaten track, this place is ideal. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the great outdoors

Disliked Nothing we loved it all

Liked The site, space, views and privacy are all great. The owner Jamie is very accommodating and friendly, always available if necessary. Sea views in some areas and on site toilets no more than 5 or so minutes walk. Lots of dogs and cows to chill with 🙏

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great spot - loads of space, an entire field to ourselves, gorgeous views across the valley and out to the sea (we could see France!). There were other campers but nowhere near us, never heard anyone. Rustic (only basic facilities) but ideal for our purposes. Very friendly and helpful host on site. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
