  • Scenic tree-lined meadow in the Kent Downs National Landscape
  • A 15-minute drive from the coast and half an hour from Canterbury
  • Within 10 minutes’ walk of a shop, pub, café and Chinese restaurant
What do you need to know about Sibton Meadow? Firstly, it’s only 15 minutes’ drive away from the Kent coast for laidback beach days. Secondly, as it's set in a village, it’s within 10 minutes’ walk of several handy spots including a shop, a pub, a café and a Chinese restaurant. This scenic tree-lined meadow is within the Kent Downs National Landscape, and the spacious pitches have simply stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The surrounding area is a gold mine for walking and cycling – in fact there are walks directly from the site or in the West Wood and Lyminge Forest are both just a couple miles away. Originally part of the Sibton Estate, the 380-metre-long hay meadow is edged with trees; a woodland walk leads through the ferns to a peaceful seasonal pond. A vintage horsebox is in the camping field and has been converted into a bathroom with a composting toilet, sink and shower. Vehicles are also allowed next to the pitches as long as the ground isn’t too wet. Still, there’s no need to drive if you don’t want to, as the site is on the bus route between Canterbury and Hythe (route number 18) and also between Canterbury and Folkestone (route number 17). There's easy access to the site from the M20 and A2, and it's only a 10-minute drive from the Channel Tunnel in Folkestone. Canterbury is half an hour’s drive away. The village of Elham, which is within walking distance via off-road footpaths along the Elham Valley Way, has three pubs and a tea room. All profits from the site are donated to the Samaritans charity (the Folkestone, Dover and Hythe branches).

Primitive grass and earth RV campsite

Liked: Lovely spacious site in the heart of beautiful countryside. So peaceful and great views. Saw Buzzards Kestrels, Tawny and Barn owls. Good for some star gazing too.
Debbie was extremely helpful and accommodating.
There is a road beside the campsite, but any traffic noise is softened by the trees.
The horse box conversion into toilet and shower is brilliant and so clean.
Liked the fact that they don't over fill the site with campers and pack too many in. We were lucky enough to pretty much have it to ourselves for our stay.
Great WiFi signal
A fantastic pop up site and we really enjoyed our stay there.

Disliked: Not really a dislike, more a suggestion, to get a better privacy cover on the toilet window perhaps.

From the manager: Thank you so much for taking the time to give such a lovely review and glad you enjoyed your stay.
Re the suggestion for toilet window, I have bought a stained glass transfer to put in the glass which I hope to put on as soon as I get a spare half an hour!
Hope to see you again some time

Primitive grass and earth RV campsite

Liked: Absolutely lovely site, just come back from a long weekend stay in our van, loads of wildlife, bats, swallows, owls, kestrals, buzzards, our son and his other half popped in to see us as they only live 15 minutes away and as they left they spotted a badger.
10 minute walk into Lyminge, shop (although a bit dear) nice, friendly pub coach and horses where we had a great Sunday lunch and walk around the church.
The horse box toilet and shower are a great addition as is the shed with seating and a little tuck box with honesty tin that has snacks and drinks.
Looking forward to our return.

Disliked: Not really a dislike but more of a heads up for others with camper vans, the site is gently sloping, we chose to pitch at the top of the field as there was some shelter from wind and sun but this is a little steeper than the bottom so wheel chocs are a good idea to get the van near level for a good night's sleep.
