  • Dog-friendly farm stay in a scenic valley eight miles from Canterbury
  • In the Kent Downs, half an hour’s drive from Whitstable
  • Animals to meet; pub, shop and wine tasting within walking distance
Stunning sunsets? Oh, yes. The paddock at Courtlands Camping and Glamping looks over the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so the views are impressive all the time, whether it’s sunset, daylight or twilight. These dog-friendly farm stays have access to facilities like a converted horse lorry with two flushing toilets and a family-sized shower. There’s fresh water available at one end of the site. Plus, as a family farm, there are plenty of animals and wildlife for guests to meet. Get your introduction to the city of Canterbury in a jiffy too. The city is a 20-minute drive away or there’s a bus stop five minutes’ walk from the farm which takes under 15 minutes to reach the centre. Neighbouring the site is a golf course and there’s also views over a vineyard (wine tasting experiences can therefore be tracked down 15 minutes’ walk away). Courtlands Camping and Glamping is in the village of Barnham, so there are a fair few handy amenities within walking distance. It’s a 10-minute walk along the A360 to a petrol station and food shop. The village centre, which has a pub and restaurant, is a 20-minute walk or a five-minute drive away. Good country pubs and cafés are easily scoped out within 10 minutes’ drive of the farm.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked I liked the view and location in general.
It was also nice that there is no pressure on come/leave time.

Disliked I didn’t like the fact that by description given, this site should be quiet and free from loud music..however it turned out to be loud with a lot of very loud music until 1am. Didn’t want to complain as it was late and I didn’t want to make my mood even worse by getting into argument with around 10 people smoking weed.
If you can’t control if there is going to be quiet or not, don’t describe your camping as quiet one as some people looking for place where they can really relax.
So if you plan to have nice relaxing evening and night, it’s really a lottery.
I gave 4* because it wasn’t bad place, with good facilities and views but wouldn’t come back definitely.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The grass pitch is very nice. Toilets and shower are very clean.

Disliked The camp site rule said no music allowed, however, there were some groups of families occupying the corner plots playing bit loud till late at night ( past 11) which sometimes could be annoying.

Liked Location is perfect for Canterbury and surrounding coastal owns. Deal and Whitstable are must visits

Site itself is a quiet family run site that is extremely clean and tidy with excellent showers and toilets (shower is best I've ever used)

the site is dog friendly and provides plenty of space with a maximum only of ten pitches, camp fires are allowed and the sky at night is superb

Disliked Nothing

Very welcoming upon arrival as well as being super flexible on arrival…

Liked Very welcoming upon arrival as well as being super flexible on arrival time and helpful upon arriving to show us to our pitch!
Site itself is peaceful with the amenities needed for a comfy stay.
Was perfect for us as a stopping point before using the ferry crossing but I'm sure the area itself is nice to explore.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Real farm camping, peaceful small site. (Pigs looked contented. No disturbing smells:-)

Disliked No hand-washing possibility for one of the two toilets.Even for a small site, two toilets were too few. No washing up facility.

From the manager: Since yours stay, we have added a washing up area with hot water. By next season we will have a sink in the single toilet plus another toilet and shower. Hope to see you again to rate our improvements
