  • Peaceful site in a hamlet on the edge of a traditional village
  • A 10-minute drive to Fordingbridge and the New Forest National Park
  • Half a mile to the local pub via a footpath; walkers' paradise
Getting back to basics is the aim of the game at Ladybird Farm, made up of grassy paddocks set in a small hamlet on the edges of the traditional English village of Rockbourne. Attractions and activities at this Hampshire park are focused on its natural surroundings, with peaceful vibes boosted by a no-noise policy after dark and the facilities extending to toilets and two showers. Local walks are easily accessed too at this site in the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs National Landscapes, on the network of footpaths snaking through the surrounding countryside. A row of thatched cottages following the line of the river flowing through the valley is a minute's stroll from the site, too, and a pub serving food and booze is a short saunter away. If you fancy bringing a bit of decadence to your break by dining out for every meal, a couple of other inns are in the villages of Damerham and Whitsbury, both about a five-minute drive or under a 45-minute walk via a car-free trail. Restaurants are in Fordingbridge just on the outskirts of the New Forest National Park (10 minutes’ drive), along with a cinema, a park on the Avon and a supermarket. To source food, head to the on-site honesty shop, which sells honey, eggs, bread and charcoal, or try the village shop in Sandleheath, five minutes' drive away, to bag supplies for the barbecue. Cook up your findings while you get toasty by one of the site’s firepits (logs are also available to buy on base).

What customers say

Ladybird Farm is a peaceful, family-friendly campsite in beautiful countryside. Guests rave about the welcoming atmosphere, friendly owners (especially Hannah), and clean, well-kept facilities with charming touches. Plenty of space, great walking access, and a communal kitchen. A no-music policy adds to the calm vibe. Some sloped pitches and limited phone signal noted, but overall highly recommended.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Lovely relaxing site with a strong comunity vibe, set in beautiful countryside & the pretty village or Rockboure.
Lots of access to footpaths for long or short walks.
Great community pub in the village & others about a miles walk away in adjacent villages.
Vert close to Rockbourne Roman Villa, where there beautiful mosaics & a small museum.
Friendly, kind owners who were easy to get to talk to about any aspect of the site.
They gave time to show us (& others) the organic low impact techniques used on their farm which supplies local pubs & restaurants.
We liked the washing/toilet/kitchen facilites which worked well & looked charming in a rustic way (may not suit some, but then they probably need a hotel).

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked We had a fantastic stay at Ladybird Farm Campsite and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The campsite is beautifully kept, peaceful, and has a lovely welcoming atmosphere.

A special mention to Hannah, who was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble, and she really made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable camping experience!

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Great, little active farm with vegetables growing in the middle of the plot. Nice family vibe to it.

Respectful, quiet guests as it got darker.

Facilities I.e toilet and showers were great - instant hot water and nice and clean.

We had most of a whole field to ourselves which was a bonus with our anxious frenchies.

Disliked None to note

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked A peaceful, beautiful family run campsite with lovely walks in the surrounding water meadows and sheep pastures. The facilities are always clean and cared for and quirky with stained glass in the loo and shower room and with no grass in the shower as is common elsewhere! Plenty of room and a climbing tree for children to play in and be their wild selves together. The site owner sleeps onsite and is available for any issues, should there be any.
I think we may have another part of our family join us next time, in a glamping tent while we sleep in our little tents nearby.

Liked Lovely spot. Quiet and pretty. Nice toilets and showers made from wooden carts which fit with the ambience which we loved. Hannah was a superb host, meeting us there in the evening and being in hand for any questions.

Local attractions

Stonehenge is within a half an hour drive's and other historical places of interest are close by – including the Rockbourne Roman Villa Museum just 15 minutes’ walk away. Breamore House (10 minutes) is a prime place if you prefer your outings to include a glimpse of a country pile’s stately paintings and furniture, while the New Forest Water Park (15 minutes) has modern facilities like a wakeboarding centre and inflatable aqua park as well as places to kayak using the available equipment. For swimming instead of paddleboarding, the sandy sweep of Bournemouth beach is 35 minutes south and is reachable on a scenic journey that goes through the lush green Moors Valley Country Park & Forest. If you’d rather stick to the area’s old-school offerings, Salisbury and its spectacular cathedral are about 20 minutes’ drive away and the ancient town of Ringwood with a weekly market dating back to the Middle Ages takes 25 minutes to reach. And of course, there’s not much in the area more ancient than the New Forest, created by William I in about 1079 for royal hunts...
