  • Peaceful site in a hamlet on the edge of a traditional village
  • A 10-minute drive to Fordingbridge and the New Forest National Park
  • Half a mile to the local pub via a footpath; walkers' paradise
Getting back to basics is the aim of the game at Ladybird Farm, made up of grassy paddocks set in a small hamlet on the edges of the traditional English village of Rockbourne. Attractions and activities at this Hampshire park are focused on its natural surroundings, with peaceful vibes boosted by a no-noise policy after dark and the facilities extending to toilets and two showers. Local walks are easily accessed too at this site in the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs National Landscapes, on the network of footpaths snaking through the surrounding countryside. A row of thatched cottages following the line of the river flowing through the valley is a minute's stroll from the site, too, and a pub serving food and booze is a short saunter away. If you fancy bringing a bit of decadence to your break by dining out for every meal, a couple of other inns are in the villages of Damerham and Whitsbury, both about a five-minute drive or under a 45-minute walk via a car-free trail. Restaurants are in Fordingbridge just on the outskirts of the New Forest National Park (10 minutes’ drive), along with a cinema, a park on the Avon and a supermarket. To source food, head to the on-site honesty shop, which sells honey, eggs, bread and charcoal, or try the village shop in Sandleheath, five minutes' drive away, to bag supplies for the barbecue. Cook up your findings while you get toasty by one of the site’s firepits (logs are also available to buy on base).

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked A stay at Ladybird Farm was just what we needed as an antidote to busy jobs. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with plenty of great walking right from the site.
We had peaceful nights on a calm campsite with friendly hosts and other campers. It is not an over crowded site. Numbers are limited, even at peak holiday times.
Nature lovers will love it here. We saw hare, various birds of prey and listened to owls during the darkness hours.
Hannah and her family work very hard to make the site a wonderful place for everyone to enjoy a break away. They have a chemical-free vegetable and flower plot on site and there is extremely fresh produce available to purchase - bring some cash for this.
The camp kitchen was very useful for cooking and as a social hub.
The loos, showers and kitchen are all made using recycled materials, a bonus for the planet!
We felt very welcome here and we’d love to return.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Everything!
Great hosts, spotless loos and showers, the best camp kitchen set up I’ve seen, fresh organic bits to buy, no music, no groups, half hour walk to pub on footpath going through fields. Very relaxed chilled vibe.

Meadow bell tent

Liked Such a fab little place!
We had a peaceful and relaxing stay in one of the bell tents at Ladybird Farm.
Loved the quirky showers which were spotlessly clean and better than some hotel showers I’ve used!
The fully equipped camp kitchen was a brilliant addition which meant we didn’t need to bring anything with us for meals. It also made eating with kids so much easier and also gave us the opportunity to chat with other campers.

Hannah was so welcoming and her plans for the farm are amazing. We look forward to returning to see how it grows 🐞🌻🥕🐑

Local attractions

Stonehenge is within a half an hour drive's and other historical places of interest are close by – including the Rockbourne Roman Villa Museum just 15 minutes’ walk away. Breamore House (10 minutes) is a prime place if you prefer your outings to include a glimpse of a country pile’s stately paintings and furniture, while the New Forest Water Park (15 minutes) has modern facilities like a wakeboarding centre and inflatable aqua park as well as places to kayak using the available equipment. For swimming instead of paddleboarding, the sandy sweep of Bournemouth beach is 35 minutes south and is reachable on a scenic journey that goes through the lush green Moors Valley Country Park & Forest. If you’d rather stick to the area’s old-school offerings, Salisbury and its spectacular cathedral are about 20 minutes’ drive away and the ancient town of Ringwood with a weekly market dating back to the Middle Ages takes 25 minutes to reach. And of course, there’s not much in the area more ancient than the New Forest, created by William I in about 1079 for royal hunts...
