Heading to Hampshire is an excellent plan for those seeking a break that’s full of outdoor activities among countryside and coastal landscapes. And the prospect gets even better for those booking a stay at Breamore House, where motorhomes and campervans can pitch up in the gorgeous grounds of a grand Elizabethan mansion. This is a very smart-looking site – and it’s a well-located one too, with easy access from the A338. It’s also set in the sweet spot just where the New Forest National Park meets the Cranborne Chase National Landscape, so there’s plenty of splendid scenery nearby, with options for all the associated activities. The south coast is about a half-hour drive away, adding even more things to see and do to the mix. With all this nearby to fill your days with, you’ll no doubt be pleased to have a peaceful base in which to relax – the grass pitches here are quiet and spacious, with room to set up your awning, outdoor table and barbecue. Kids and dogs are very welcome, and you should find plenty of rural paths and bridleways nearby to walk the latter. Pitches are on the simple side here, with just drinking water and grey water/chemical disposal on the facilities front in the field. The estate has a good collection of facilities though – as well as being able to book a tour of the house and gardens or visit the countryside museum, you’ll be able to pick up top-quality local produce in the farm shop or enjoy breakfasts, lunches, hot drinks and home-baked treats in the cosy courtyard café.

Liked Great open space. Easy to get to. Good communication from owners. Really clean. Lovely walk for dog and toddler.

Looks like there’s lots to do around, and a farm shop - but we were up and out before they opened.
We did see an old steam tractor/trailer drive past the site which our little one absolutely loved!

Fantastic price for the area!

Definitely recommend and would stay again if we’re that way.

Site had two drinking water taps and an Elsan disposal area with rinsing tap too. Not needed by us so can’t comment on.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Perfect, gorgeous view, quiet, lovely cafe and Farm Shop. Pootled around with my dog and walked up to the Miz Maze past the house and stables which is approx a mile from campsite.

Disliked Didn't bother me but some might not like the fact the campsite was used as a local dog walk by non campers.

Liked Very tranquil camp site with nice walks, a pub within 15 minutes walk and a very nice Cafe selling lovely food.

Disliked Would recommend putting a security code key on the toilets so that anyone camping could use them after the cafe shuts at 4pm.

Easy walk to Breamore house, cafe and garden shop
Toilets at the cafe open until 4pm otherwise bring your own.
There is an Elsa’s point and fresh water, otherwise no other facilities
Bring ramps as a lot of the site is sloping/uneven

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked I really enjoy staying here. The field is massive (although the slope between the two levels obviously is less usable) and you can pitch up anywhere. Lovely view across the valley, and really peaceful.
Good walks to the surrounding countryside, and if you like historical buildings there's the option to visit Breamore House and the Saxon church right next door. No problem for bringing a dog, and there is a fresh water point plus a chemical toilet emptying shed. Lots of bird song to wake up to. Lovely.

The New Forest National Park, just to the east of the site, is always a great choice for a break. There are miles and miles of lovely walks and bike rides here, and the relatively flat terrain makes it all pretty easygoing. You can also go horse riding and fishing, try watersports and the floating assault course at New Forest Water Park (10 minutes’ drive) or tackle the high ropes at Go Ape Moors Valley (25 minutes). There are plenty of great attractions nearby for all tastes as well. Families may like to spend some time at the Dorset Heavy Horse Farm Park (20 minutes), Liberty's Owl, Raptor & Reptile Centre (20 minutes) or Paultons Park, Home of Peppa Pig World (half an hour), while heritage seekers stroll around Salisbury (20 minutes) or visit Beaulieu and the National Motor Museum (45 minutes). Down towards the coast you may also like to hit the beach in Bournemouth (half an hour), visit Highcliffe Castle (35 minutes) or board a ferry to the Isle of Wight from Lymington (40 minutes).
