  • Small, quiet and family-run site in the Kent countryside
  • A 20-minute walk or five-minute drive from Bewl Water
  • Playground on site, plus plenty of green space to relax in
Cedar Gables Camping is a family-run site in the Kent countryside. There are no noisy late-night get-togethers here, as it’s a small, quiet site where noise is banned after 11pm. Instead, the hallmarks are plenty of green space where families can unwind, plus excellent sunsets and a playground. There are plenty of attractions accessible within a five-minute drive of the site (or a walk down a public footpath). Perhaps start by taking the five-minute drive to Scotney Castle, a National Trust site with a 14th-century moated castle and Victorian country mansion. The conifers and cycling, walking and mountain biking trails of the Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest are also within a five-minute drive. For cycling (including bicycle hire), boating and other activities, Bewl Water is a five-minute drive or a 20-minute walk away. For a trip into town, consider Royal Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge, both 25 minutes’ drive away, or the seaside towns of Hastings and Bexhill, a 40- to 45-minute drive away. There are many scenic villages within driving distance of the site too.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Very warm welcome, lovely area locally to explore, very well maintained, clean showers and toilets, lovely play park for the kids, lovely coffee on site!

Disliked Some noise from the nearby main road overnight if you pitch up on that side of the field.

Lovely well-proportioned campsite, just far too noisy due to the road

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked we had a great time at Cedar Gables. It’s a small site but perfectly proportion it’s great that you can take the trail to Bewl water, I’ll be through some overgrown pathways or farmers fields. The campsite itself has clean facilities for showering and washing up. It wasn’t much to the playground, but the kids had fun meeting up with fellow children there. The host was very helpful and friendly and supportive.

It is very well located for Scotney Castle, Bewl Water and Bedgebury forest

Disliked The only dislike and unfortunately this is quite a key one for me is the noise from the A21. You wouldn’t imagine that it would be so busy day and night, but it really is and the road noise takes away from the overall camping ambience and experience. When I think of camping I tend to think of sitting out in a relaxing environment on a nice summers evening listening to the wildlife but unfortunately on this campsite or you can hear is the never-ending infernal road noise. Obviously this is no fault of the owner but unfortunately is quite a considerable drawback of this campsite.
