  • Quiet and welcoming East Sussex site 10 minutes’ drive from Wadhurst
  • National Trust - Bateman’s 10 minutes’ drive; Bodiam Castle 20 minutes
  • Dog-friendly pitches with access to walks; pub five minutes’ drive
Heading East Sussex way? If you’re looking for that heady combination of peace, a warm welcome and country views, make a beeline for Cairds Camping and Caravanning Site, 10 minutes’ drive from the village of Wadhurst and surrounded by pretty rural scenery. There's a myriad of walks directly from this family-run site, as well a range of visitor attractions nearby from gorgeous gardens to activity centres – although getting out and about means you'll have to tear yourself away from your pitch, which all have great vistas across the surrounding fields and woodlands. Your dogs are welcome to join your rambles and explorations, but please keep them on a lead at all times when on site. Locally there are plenty of pretty villages tucked away in the East Sussex countryside that have traditional pubs – the nearest being Burwash (five minutes’ drive). If you need a quick top-up on supplies, head to Wadhurst, which has a few small shops; for bigger shopping sprees, Tunbridge Wells (25 minutes) should see you right. And the practical bits? Facilities include communal showers, a washing-up area and drinking-water points across the site. Should you prefer to fend for yourselves instead of making a beeline for a pub, you can hire firepits on site as well as buying logs for the fire.

This friendly, quiet campsite offers lovely countryside views. Guests loved the helpful owners, clean showers, and peaceful atmosphere. The Arch accommodation was cozy & clean, with fresh eggs a hit. Minor notes: more outlets & better dishwashing cover. Car access may be tricky.

Cabin

Liked Everything you need is there. Small fridge, Plates, cutlery, mugs, wine glasses, kettle, cooking pot, frying pan, bottle opener, bbq tongs, cleaning equipment, chairs and table for outside. Very clean cabin.
Small but cosy piece of land. Enough space between each tent. Even though it is just next to the road it is very quiet. Cabin is surrounded by the bushes which makes it a cozy corner to rest.
2 cabins with toilet and shower in each. And washing stand next to it.

Disliked The blanket I took just in case turned out to be useful as it got cold at night due to the wooden walls not being 100% tight. But there is even a small heater provided.

Liked Lovely little campsite, very friendly and well maintained site. Situated in stunning surroundings with amenities a short drive away.

Disliked Only thing I could say negative was some of the pitches sloped. Not that it stopped or hindered the trip .

Liked Very friendly owner (who rescued my son's play tent when it tried to go flying while we were out!) and a beautiful, clear, dark sky for star gazing - we saw meteor showers every night. We never had to wait more than a few seconds to use the toilets/showers all weekend, despite every pitch being full most days. A lovely cosy site with very convenient water points and well-marked pitches with ample space.

Disliked The only downside was literally a downside - the pitches slope and it was hard to get the caravan level! However, the owner told us that there will hopefully be more level pitches in future, and we'll definitely be back to test them out.

Liked The view!!! Just stunning
The cabin has lots of 'extras' we weren't expecting such as tea, hand soap etc
Lots of space in the middle of the field for the children to play even though all the pitches were full.
Check in and out was simple

Disliked The shower was a bit temperamental and was freezing but found if you run the sink tap until it's hot and shut it off then quickly turn on the shower then that lead to hot water!

Liked Tent site was clean, quiet and surrounded by nature..very good for unwinding. Good play area , small but just enough for kids to be seen while playing. a friendly place.

Disliked Toilets are clean but could do with more units. washing area could also be added with light at night and shade or roof during the day use ( rain or shine)

Some egg cups would have been god for the fresh eggs every., could do with some
