  • Small family-run East Sussex site between Hailsham and Polegate
  • Eastbourne, Drusillas Park and South Downs within 15 minutes' drive
  • Access to Cuckoo Trail via footpath; walk/bike on paths to the towns
Take a slice of the easy life in East Sussex with a stay at Peel House Farm – this compact family-run site is surrounded by peaceful farmland, but it’s only a few minutes’ drive from both Hailsham and Polegate for handy access to shops, places to eat and other amenities. You can also reach both towns in a few minutes by bike, along a gravel/tarmac path of a mile, making this a suitable site for those travelling without a car (Polegate has a railway station, and there are bus connections to Hailsham). Even closer than either of those towns is the Cuckoo Trail, a popular 14-mile mostly traffic-free trail that makes a wonderful way to see some of the local scenery. It’s easily accessed from the site via a public footpath. More places to walk? You’ll be in prime position between the South Downs National Park and the High Weald National Landscape, so there are plenty of options nearby. And with the coast just a few miles away as well, you can also take strolls around Eastbourne, Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters cliffs. Pick up supplies while you’re out and about, because barbecues are permitted on site and make a lovely way to finish your outdoor day. There’s a small play area and a recreation field on site where kids can tire themselves out for a decent night’s sleep, and the bathroom block has been thoughtfully kitted out with heating and family-sized cubicles with baby-changing facilities. The covered washing-up area has hot water, and you’ll also have access to wifi if you need it.

What customers say

This peaceful, well-kept campsite gets praise for its friendly, helpful owners, lovely rural setting, and great access to the Cuckoo Trail. Facilities are usually clean, though some guests found them dated and in need of updates. Most stays are very positive, but a few mentioned shower issues and cleanliness concerns. Great for walkers, cyclists, and those wanting a quiet getaway.

Primitive grass and earth campsite

Liked Great location for coming by public transport/bike as located by a walking route to either Polgate or Hailsham. Lovely view of the South Downs and nice flat pitches. Warm welcome, and good washing up facilities

Powered grass and earth campsite

Liked Friendly enough couple running the site, plenty of space and pretty quiet area which was nice. Pitch was ok and reasonably flat

Disliked Facilities were very basic and really in need of renovation. Wash room roof was leaking in the rain. Generally facilities were very old and tired.
Showers only ran for a few seconds before needing to be started again.
Electric hook up was an extension lead - it did work, but one of the pitches we had did not require hook up. When I emailed for a refund on this my email was ignored - which was a shame.

Liked We stayed at this campsite for two nights with our camper, and we absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful – the perfect place to relax and unwind. Everything is sclean and well maintained, from the pitches to the facilities.

The owners are truly wonderful – warm, welcoming, and always ready to help. The owner also has a great sense of humor and was always up for a friendly chat or a laugh, which added a lovely personal touch to our stay.

Honestly, there’s nothing negative I can say. This is one of those rare places where everything just feels right. We would definitely come back!

Disliked The sanitary facilities are clean and tidy, though they could benefit from some modern updates. That said, everything worked well and was kept in good condition.
