  • Peaceful back to basics site on a working Lancashire farm
  • On the edge of Belthorn village; short walk from pubs and a farm shop
  • Gorgeous views and plenty of local walks; dogs welcome on site
Fabulous rural views, stunning sunsets and tons of fresh air… it’s all about the simple pleasures of life at Greystones Farm - Pendle View. Settle in at this small farm site and you’ll be in for a real rural experience, bedding down between fields of sheep and cows and looking out over miles of lovely Lancashire countryside. Based on open farm field at the top of Belthorn, one of the highest villages in Lancashire (approximately 300 metres above sea level), there are views for miles. Given the location, the site recommends you come prepared for all weather conditions. It’s a back to basics setup here, almost wild camping. There are very few facilities, with just a portable toilet, just how many people like it. You’ll be able to organise your pitch as you like though, parking your car there for maximum convenience and lighting a barbecue or campfire for keeping warm and/or cooking dinner. Dogs are welcome to join you for stays here, too, and there are plenty of nearby footpaths and bridleways where they can have a good walk (as can human guests, of course…) Although the views here are very much full-on countryside, it’s handy to note that the farm is in fact on the edge of the aforementioned village of Belthorn, a small and friendly place with a farm shop and a couple of pubs and restaurants for those times when you fancy eating out (or the weather dictates an indoor evening…) There’s also a bus stop in the village with services heading into Blackburn (15 minutes’ drive away) for more extensive shopping and eating options.

Liked Stunning scenery. Friendly welcome and very helpful. Quite busy but all campers were considerate i.e. music stopped at 10pm. Massive field so didn't feel crowded.

Disliked Quite uneven ground ...just need to park up and walk round to find a flat spot.
Water supply took some finding but they do have one 😉

Liked Absolutely loved this site, in terms of facilitates this is back to basics and that is just what we wanted. Large space, very quiet. A gorgeous pub down the road, and fresh eggs a 5 minute walk away.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Super simple fuss free booking , payment and registration.
Very basic facilities and all the better for it in my humble opinion, its a field and you go camping , what's not to like.
Panoramic views and enough space that you can pitch your tent away from others or not as you feel.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Nice chill vibe, lots of families just having a good time.
Dog friendly, we didn't bring our puppy but nice to see lots of dogs and there was very little dog waste all considered.
Site was tidy, free of any litter.
Selection of BBQs and fire pits to borrow.
Toilet was clean, had loo rolls and never much of a queue.
Amazing views, with binoculars we could see Blackpool Tower and the Lake district and visibility wasn't even that great.
Good communication from the owner, reasonably priced.

Disliked Field is on a hill so have to scout around for a level-ish pitch.
Noisy traffic near the road at one end, noisy party tents near the other. Quiet campers need to choose one or the other. We went with the road. Some jokers think it's funny to blast their horns driving past at 6am, jokes on them because I'm up with the birds.
It's minimalist in terms of facilities but we knew that going in so wasn't a problem.
We had good weather but it is an exposed location.

Ate in the pub the dog inn lovely meal 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £45 can’t complain was cooked perfect too.

Local attractions

Getting out for a walk or a bike ride is often the prime activity that draws people to this part of the world – and there are plenty of great places to do either, including Pendle Hill (half an hour’s drive), Witton Country Park (15 minutes) or Brockholes nature reserve (20 minutes). There’s also the option of heading north into the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (half an hour) for a longer hike if you like. Mixing in a bit of history and culture should be easy enough too – perhaps a tour of the Tiffany glass collection at Haworth Art Gallery (15 minutes), a trip to see the black and white design of Samlesbury Hall (20 minutes) or a wander around the grand National Trust - Gawthorpe Hall (20 minutes). If the kids are keen to see more animals, take them along to meet pigs, feed lambs and walk with wallabies at Mrs Dowsons Farm Park (20 minutes) or set off to see a flying demonstration at the Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary (25 minutes). Meanwhile, if you’re on a grownup break, you may prefer to sort a gin experience at Brindle Distillery (15 minutes).
