The best thing about the waterside location of Glasson Dock Campsite? For some guests it will be the chance to chill out and watch canal boats chugging along or see wildlife flitting about. For others it’s all about the active options – this is a spot where you can launch canoes, kayaks and paddleboards, fish or find lovely canalside walks. This fab pop-up camping field is next to the Lancaster Canal, a few metres from Glasson Marina. As well as the canal, the river Lune is close by – and it’s not far to the Lancashire coast, perhaps best appreciated 25 minutes’ drive away at Morecambe Bay. The compact city of Lancaster (15 minutes) is close at hand too and has plenty of supermarkets, shops and places for dinner out. This simple site is equipped with functional portable toilets and cold outdoor showers and is a five-minute stroll from the various cafés and eateries of Glasson Dock, which is the starting point for a number of footpaths and bike trails. The campsite is a laidback place where dogs, barbecues and campfires are all allowed and you’ll have space for an awning or gazebo if you like. Travelling without a car? Glasson Dock Campsite is a few minutes' walk from a bus stop, where you can catch regular services to Lancaster and beyond.

Disliked Feral kids screaming til late, dogs off leads, rubbish around site, dirty bins, absolutely disgusting toilets and showers. Should not be advertising on Pitchup as we feel its not ready to be a campsite yet! Got charged £23 for a pile of rubbish... Certainly would not stay here again or recommend to any future campers....

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We were met by the owner on arrival and were welcomed! The site is perfect for a night or two, and the bathrooms, though simple, are very clean and well stocked. It’s placement was also perfect for going walking round the dock to the coast, highly recommend if you’re wanting some peace in reach of some beautiful scenery!

Liked Quiet site . Friendly helpful owners and nice fellow campers.
Campsite was basic but all the amenities we needed
Nice canal walks to Glasson dock and lovely cafe for breakfast

Disliked Toilet and shower block were basic but quite clean. Lucky had an adapter for the hookup.

Disliked toilets were abysmal - too small to sit down and number 2 comfortably - leaked water in the rain
no hot water in toilet block
Electric hook up was 13 amp plug

Liked We stayed in a tentbox and the campsite it really good ground isn't boggy and plenty of space. The surrounding area was lovely walking distance to the canal, few shops and a pub. Highly reccomend if you want to get down to basics and have a peaceful break.

Owner also provided an extention plug for electric and free firepit (limited fire pits available but if you ask him if one is available he will lend you it)

Disliked This is 'wild' camping but something to keep in mind the showers are cold no hot water and the cubicles for the toilets are quite small so if you are tall will struggle to close the door or get changed in them after a shower but this is a small dislike this hasn't put me off booking this site again in the future.

Liked Nice location next to the canal, lovely walks. Short walk to shop & cafes. Lovely views from the top across the sea.

Disliked Toilet block was terrible, no hot water & very small Toilet cubicles, thankfully being in a motorhome didn't need to use them.

Keen to explore the local landscapes? Head to the coast for a day on the beach in Morecambe or a wander through the seaside scenery of the Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape; both are about 25 minutes' drive away. Inland, the Forest of Bowland National Landscape (20 minutes’ drive) is a great place for a walk, and also home to the Bowland Wild Boar Park (50 minutes). For a dose of history on your holiday, pay a visit to medieval Lancaster Castle (15 minutes) and the National Trust’s fabulous Sizergh (half an hour), with an imposing stately home at the centre of a 1600-acre estate. Those of you who love a few thrill rides will definitely want to make the journey to Blackpool Pleasure Beach (45 minutes), perhaps visiting Blackpool Tower, the zoo and the Sea Life Centre while you're there.
