  • Pop-up campsite in a scenic location by the Lancaster Canal
  • A 15-minute drive from Lancaster; Morecambe 25 minutes
  • Suitable for paddleboards, canoes, kayaks and fishing
The best thing about the waterside location of Glasson Dock Campsite? For some guests it will be the chance to chill out and watch canal boats chugging along or see wildlife flitting about. For others it’s all about the active options – this is a spot where you can launch canoes, kayaks and paddleboards, fish or find lovely canalside walks. This fab pop-up camping field is next to the Lancaster Canal, a few metres from Glasson Marina. As well as the canal, the river Lune is close by – and it’s not far to the Lancashire coast, perhaps best appreciated 25 minutes’ drive away at Morecambe Bay. The compact city of Lancaster (15 minutes) is close at hand too and has plenty of supermarkets, shops and places for dinner out. This simple site is equipped with functional portable toilets and cold outdoor showers and is a five-minute stroll from the various cafés and eateries of Glasson Dock, which is the starting point for a number of footpaths and bike trails. The campsite is a laidback place where dogs, barbecues and campfires are all allowed and you’ll have space for an awning or gazebo if you like. Travelling without a car? Glasson Dock Campsite is a few minutes' walk from a bus stop, where you can catch regular services to Lancaster and beyond.

What customers say

Charming canalside spot! Guests love the friendly owners, level spots, and nearby shops/trails. Facilities are simple but clean. Some noted camper noise and chilly showers. Good value, though a few found rules lax and toilets basic.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Just returned home after 3 night stay - being truthful I only read the reviews AFTER we had booked and paid - was not really looking forward to it as there seemed to be some bad reviews - However, we were greeted by the owner, very nice man who told us where every was and how to get to the dock side - The toilet block looked a bit off putting but after entering was pleasantly surprised - toilets were clean, had lighting, toilet paper and paper towels put in daily - the toilet/disposal units for your own chemical seemed to be checked everyday too - plenty of bin space for your rubbish - the field (grass was short) was looked after - the families that were camping while we were there seemed friendly and respectful - no one running round fields at god knows what time and no loud music that went on into the night - small kids swing in middle of field and plenty of room for kiddies to run around and play safety - only down fall was lack of hot water

Disliked Not disliked but

lack of hot water - was a pain boiling water to wash pots.

Toilet cubicles, although clean the cubicles lacked space, had to stand to the side of toilet to get in and then your knees were against the door

Local attractions

Keen to explore the local landscapes? Head to the coast for a day on the beach in Morecambe or a wander through the seaside scenery of the Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape; both are about 25 minutes' drive away. Inland, the Forest of Bowland National Landscape (20 minutes’ drive) is a great place for a walk, and also home to the Bowland Wild Boar Park (50 minutes). For a dose of history on your holiday, pay a visit to medieval Lancaster Castle (15 minutes) and the National Trust’s fabulous Sizergh (half an hour), with an imposing stately home at the centre of a 1600-acre estate. Those of you who love a few thrill rides will definitely want to make the journey to Blackpool Pleasure Beach (45 minutes), perhaps visiting Blackpool Tower, the zoo and the Sea Life Centre while you're there.
