Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: A beautiful campsite with stunning views! The amenities, such as showers and sinks, built into old horse boxes, were a wonderfully fun and practical creation, kept nice and clean. Amy was Very welcoming and friendly, and mid -week, the site was very quiet and peaceful. Easy access to a wonderful pub for food just up the road.

Disliked: Could have done with a sign pointing in the other direction, was slightly taken by surprise the first time arriving.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Staff welcoming and friendly on arrival. The campsite looked very clean and organised. Good facilities including clean toilets, nice showers, communal fridge use available. Campfires allowed which is a must for us. Great for kids (use of flat field for sports) and large groups.

Disliked: Quite limited where to pitch due to it being a sloped field and (through no fault of the campsite) the recent weather meant it was very wet and boggy at the bottom of field so we had to pitch at the top.. which happens to be next to a very noisy road. Additionally, large groups are able to book here- which is great if you’re wanting a lively site however meant we spent what we thought would be a restful wknd overlooking a large group of youths constantly urinating behind their tent and their partying til about 3am. I do think lively sites are great and i have purposely booked sites for that reason myself before but booked this one for a rest, under the impression they had strict quiet time. Again this place is great if you’re booking for a lively wknd but just think should be advertised as such, the staff are lovely but patrolling in evenings would be beneficial as at one point one of the large groups let something burn on the grass near people’s cars for over an hour so there’s a safety element. As I say this place would’ve been great if we’d have wanted a lively wknd as we sometimes do but was under the impression it peaceful

Local attractions

Where to take your walking boots first? Local strolls might take you out onto the Pendle Way (which you can access via a network of footpaths leading from the farm), to pick up the Pennine Way (five minutes’ drive) or to take in different rural views from the ‘Atom’ artwork in Wycoller Country Park (10 minutes). Not worn your legs out yet? Great - there’s plenty more to explore. Perhaps a climb of mystical Pendle Hill, a woodland walk in the Forest of Bowland or an outing to the Yorkshire Dales National Park? All are about half an hour away by car. Should you reach a point at which you need a sit down, a ride on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway (25 minutes’ drive) is a good option, as it means you’ll still be able to survey the scenery at a more leisurely pace. A stroll around Skipton (20 minutes) might also be on the cards, taking in the priory and castle as you go.
