  • Family camping onsite licenced sport's bar toilets water recycling fac
  • Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Blackpool Tower both 15 minutes’ drive
  • Quad-bike hire; nature reserve 10 minutes’ walk away
Keen to get back to nature with a healthy dose of wild camping? You might just have found the answer… Mango’s is a Lancashire pop-up site on the outskirts of Blackpool, with easy access to all the lively seaside resort’s attractions yet set in a spacious meadow with green space for running around, plenty of birds and wildlife and stunning sunsets. Quad-bike hire is available on the site, and the pitches are also close to Marton Mere Local Nature Reserve for wildlife-spotting adventures – so there’s lots here to keep everybody happy. This simple set-up is off-grid, and there are no showers; however, portable toilets, fresh water, chemical waste disposal and recycling facilities are available. There’s also a small basics shop at reception, where you can pick up stuff to barbecue, hire firepits and have them delivered to your pitch. What else could you possibly want? A pub? No problem, there’s one within about 20 minutes’ walk, as well as a couple of takeaways if alfresco cooking doesn’t appeal.

What customers say

This campsite earns praise for its friendly, helpful staff and spacious, unassigned fields. While some found portaloos clean, others noted noise, bumpy ground, and sparse facilities. One review called it a "scruffy field." Management confirms regular toilet cleaning and offers late check-outs.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked A lot of space around our tent, and no specific pitch.

Disliked 40 pounds for two nights, for a small tent with one adult, a child and a car in a campsite where there are no real toilets, no real showers, no electricity and the noise of the motorway close by...

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Had less campers on then the sister field which was absolutely rammed, nice field althou the ground was lumpy I enjoyed this field, toilets althou portaloos were clean, and the guys running it were nice.

Disliked Someone on a quad bike driving down to collect more wood, shouting back as he drove off at midnight, people coming in to the field thru a metal gate that was padlocked up with a metal chain, this wasn't quiet, and happen quite late on, we walked to the wyndyke sister camp and our kids ran on the soft play bus (whilst we stood working out where to pay for it) a woman chased them on shouting that they hadn't payed, the way she did this to 5/6 year olds was bang out of order and I went on to tell her we was literally looking at where to pay. We was told she was having problems out of work (still no need to chase down children like that) we paid and our kids then felt uncomfortable so we left after 5 mins and returned to mangos camp. Over all I wouldn't stay here again althou we enjoyed the camp it was noisy after 11pm.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Liked it when we left.
It was quiet as a positive

Disliked This site is not as advertised, it is a scruffy bumpy field on a hill. 2 smelly port-a loos no facilities. Even though there were only several campers they want you off site 10.00am on the dot. Definitely won’t be going back again.

Local attractions

The kids probably won’t stop nagging until they get to Blackpool Pleasure Beach (15 minutes’ drive). There are gentle boat rides and carousels for younger children, truly hardcore adrenaline rides for brave souls and lots of evening entertainment for the family, from magicians to extravaganzas on ice. Amusement arcades line the seafront promenade, and there are traditional fairground rides on both the North, Central and South piers. Those of you with a head for heights can admire views over the Irish Sea from the top of iconic Blackpool Tower, but if you prefer to stay on solid ground, spend time building sandcastles on the renowned beach (all 15 minutes). You can watch sharks and rays flit around aquariums at Sea Life Blackpool (10 minutes), or cool off on sunny days on the water rides at Sandcastle Waterpark Blackpool, which has a dizzying array of slides, wave pools and lazy rivers. Quieter days out might include admiring the UK in miniature at Blackpool Model Village and Gardens (10 minutes), or having a wander around Marton Mere Local Nature Reserve (10 minutes’ walk) to see if you can spot grebes and bitterns from the hides.
