What customers say

A well-kept, clean park with great, spacious, and warm restrooms. Guests loved the friendly staff and superb location near the beach and town. The on-site ice cream shop was a hit. Some had minor drainage issues in rain & no Wi-Fi, but overall, a peaceful and enjoyable stay.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Very nice place, quick access to the beach and plenty of space for trips, I recommend.

Disliked It would be nice to have more attractions on site, e.g. a playground or a sports field, but it is not very important because the playground is a few minutes' walk from the park.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked open and friendly campsite, plenty of space and a good variety of pitches. clean and very good shower block/toilet facilities. The staff member that signed us in was very friendly and full of lots of local knowledge and advice.

Disliked only 2 comments really, could do with a little more tree of hedge coverage to gove a little more shelter, but thats no real big issue. The other thing and its not really a campsite problem but the local village had absolutely nothing to offer in the way of shops or good food options, however Millom had it all but its a little further to walk.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked This was our first visit to the Lake District and could not have chosen the perfect campsite. Staff are friendly and very helpful, clean toilets and showers. There is a calm vibe about the campsite with no noise in the evenings/night time. Everyone we met on the camp was friendly and happy to share or give guidance of local areas to visit or see. A great place to go for walks by the beach or nearby areas. Lovely coffee place Betty's Coffee Hut and other amenities within walking distance. Will visit again and plan to take friends there!

Primitive grass campsite

Liked The warm welcome.
The ice-cream parlour.
The facilities during the day.
Proximity of the campsite to the sea.

Disliked 3/4 dogs off the leads when reception was closed, also on the field away from reception when open.
Facilities during the early morning and late.at night due to people not showing respect, paper on floor, not tidying up after themselves.
Noise on the centre field but it is a family campsite.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Excellent site next to the beach that allows for some idyllic walks. Showers and toilets were amazing, really good that you could get more than one person, even a family in at the same time is you wanted. Greeted by Stuart who was really friendly and informative giving us the low down of the area. Had a walk into the village for some great Fish and Chips, the fish being one of the nicest I've ever had, then a drink at the local in the beer garden. Would 100% recommend and return if the opportunity allows.

Local attractions

Haverigg’s wide sandy beach is fab for walks, castle building and kite-based antics, from flying them to being hauled along the sands in buggies at high speed. If you’re after activities on the water, Port Haverigg Wakepark five minutes’ drive away has something wet and wild for everyone. Without straying too far, you can also go horse trekking through the countryside and galloping on the beach from Murthwaite Green trekking centre, or get your kicks with wheels and mud included at Haverigg Motocross Track (both 10 minutes). For walks with wildlife, it’s five minutes to RSPB Hodbarrow, where hosts of rare birds and plants thrive in the distinctive wetland environment. If you want to get higher, Black Combe is officially England’s biggest hill, 30 feet short of being a mountain and accessible by trails starting about 15 minutes' drive away in Wicham. Walks up the famed Old Man and surrounding fells start in Coniston, 40 minutes away. For lakes, well, take your pick… Windermere is 45 minutes away, for boat cruises, steamer trips and watersports as well as lakeside walks and cycling. Families make for Muncaster Castle (half an hour), on account of its Harry Potter-like appearance, resident ghost, adventure trails and playground and its Hawk and Owl centre with regular feeding and flying shows. For even wilder wildlife, the South Lakes Safari Zoo is 40 minutes away or you can Go Ape yourselves at Grizedale, zipping through the forest treetops on wires and ropeways (50 minutes).
