Attractive and peaceful site
Powered gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite
Liked Beautifully landscaped and organised campsite. Spotless facilities. Large pitches organised in an appealing layout. Very easy access off the A66. Great for dog owners with a nice dog walk along the old railway.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked We had a lovely one-night camping stay at Gill Head Farm and really enjoyed our time there. The campsite was so peaceful and relaxing, with beautiful views of Blencathra that made the setting feel really special.
The whole site was extremely clean and well looked after, and the toilets and showers were absolutely spotless, which makes such a difference when camping.
Our 3-year-old daughter had a brilliant time exploring and enjoying being outdoors, and it was a lovely place for us to spend some family time together.
We would definitely recommend Gill Head Farm to anyone looking for a peaceful, clean and scenic campsite in the Lake District. We’d happily stay again!

Power optional grass tent campsite
Liked First time using this campsite and a very pleasant experience. Good facilities such as power, toilets, showers, laundry facilities and a communal area with fridge/freezer/microwaves and toasters.
Disliked Dislikes….Very few….the TV in the communal room seemed limited to just a few BBC stations although the WiFi was strong so streaming on your own device was fine.

We absolutely loved our stay at…
Power optional grass tent campsite
Liked We absolutely loved our stay at Gills Head Farm. It’s such a beautiful, peaceful campsite with stunning views and a wonderfully quiet atmosphere. It felt like the perfect place to escape, relax and enjoy the Lake District.
The facilities were exceptionally clean and well maintained, and the campsite had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. You can really tell that a lot of care goes into keeping the site looking lovely.
The views are gorgeous, and waking up surrounded by such beautiful scenery was a real highlight. Despite being in such a stunning location, it never felt overcrowded or noisy, which made the whole experience even more relaxing.
We honestly couldn’t fault it and would happily return. A lovely campsite, beautiful surroundings, clean facilities and a genuinely peaceful atmosphere — everything you could want for a Lake District camping trip. Highly recommended!
Disliked The only slight difficulty we had was that, after the heavy rain, the ground became very soft, which made pitching the tent quite challenging as some of our pegs kept coming out. However, this was completely due to the weather and not the campsite’s fault at all.
