  • Dog-friendly shepherd’s hut on a farm 10 minutes’ drive from Knutsford
  • Jodrell Bank UNESCO site 15 minutes’ drive and Chester Zoo 45 minutes
  • Well-equipped kitchen and woodburner; pubs and a shop 15 minutes’ walk
Found on a Cheshire sheep farm 10 minutes’ drive from the buzzy little town of Knutsford, Greenfields Campsite is a top choice for anyone wanting to combine a cosy holiday in a wooden shepherd’s hut with views over the surrounding farmland. Prettily done up with a rural theme, the hut has a well-equipped kitchen (all the basics and more are there), bunk beds for sleeping and a bathroom with shower. Outside there’s covered decking for chilling, watching the sheep (and lambs in spring) in neighbouring fields and admiring the sunset on clear days. The village of Lower Peover (two minutes’ drive/15 minutes’ walk) has a handy shop and two pubs serving excellent food and beers. You can also source picnic treats from the handy village shop in Goostrey (10 minutes). Knutsford is the spot for nosing around trendy boutiques, and it’s got more than its fair share of pubs and cafés if you fancy a night out. Dogs are permitted – in fact, they get their own welcome pack of treats – while kids get complimentary marshmallows to roast over the campfire (logs and firelighters are available to buy on site).

What customers say

Highly-rated, family-run site with spacious, level pitches & fire pits. Guests rave about friendly owners, clean facilities & complimentary marshmallows. Relaxed atmosphere, great for kids. Minor road noise & desire for more facilities in peak season, but overall very positive with many repeat visitors.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Owners were really friendly and accomodating. Toilet and shower facilities were clean and tidy. Owners came around with fire wood for the individual fire pits on each pitch. Great location 10 min drive to a shop and 15 min walk to the pub. Cannot fault our stay and would definitely like to stay here again!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Chilled, relaxed vibe. Campfires allowed. Clean toilets with hand soap and toilet roll. Sheep / Cows nearby

Disliked Our kids would have enjoyed a play area but we knew there wasn't one when we booked so not a problem. Lots of room in the middle of the field for outdoor games.

The noise from the M6 is loud (but again, we knew this when booking)

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked - finishing touches such as air freshener in the toilets
- big grass area for frisbee etc
- relaxed atmosphere and friendly hosts
- individually marked pitches and private fire pits

Disliked None of these were deal-breakers for us, but would be for some
- gaps in toilet doors, easy to peer in
- noise from motorway
- no reception or main gate, children can wander out onto the road
- no curfew, some people were noisy til late
- only 2 toilets, 2 showers and 1 washing up sink for ~20 pitches
