What customers say

Swinsty View delivers a peaceful, back-to-basics camping experience with stunning natural scenery and abundant wildlife. Campers love the remote location, quiet atmosphere, and spacious sites. Portaloos are consistently noted as very clean and well-maintained, with running water now available. While facilities are limited, many feel the price is fair, and the site is highly recommended for a wild camping feel. Recent feedback confirms the field has been mowed, resolving prior grass length concerns.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Beautiful location

Disliked The whole field was covered in sheep poo. If you had children, they wouldn't be able to olay in the field. A very small and dirty wash station. Water tap not connected to water supply. Had to go to the farm house to ask for water. Cost £40 for 2 tents and very little facilities

Local attractions

After an endless supply of activities in the outdoors? Continue your streak of outdoor activities in Stainburn Forest (25 minutes’ walk), which is known for its short and technical mountain biking trails and birds like red kites and woodpeckers. Get your hiking boots or trainers strapped on and head for the National Trust site of Brimham Rocks (15 minutes) for a good walk and a scamper. At this Site of Special Scientific Interest, there are stunning views of the moors from millions-of-years-old rock formations. The stunning Stump Cross Caverns (20 minutes) are just as impressive. The limestone cave system was formed by underground rivers. Keep an eye out for fossils and rocks in the shape of meat hanging from a butchers’ shop. If you’re keen to swap the dirt tracks for the cobbles too, make your way to Otley (15 minutes). Independent shops such as antiques or pubs serving popular pork pies are on-hand, as are food tours. Tour de Yorkshire cycling routes are accessible from here should you want to time a visit to a coffee shop before or after your ride.
