What customers say
Spacious, often private sites with great Pennine views. Guests love the friendly owners, clean facilities, and convenient location, especially the nearby pub. Highly recommended for peace and value; many plan to return. Minor notes on development & road noise, but overall feedback is very positive.

Fabulous hosts and cracking place to stay
Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Layout, scenery, facilities and the surrounding open space.
Disliked Nothing really to dislike about this place

Friendly with adequate facilities (when found!)
Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Covenient to A68 Good dog walk. View.
Disliked Poor signage both on approach and internally. Difficult to find things such as drinking water and rubbish disposal. Externally difficult to see where the caravan site is - on approach you are faced with a closed ordinary gate onto what looks like a private drive to Balbec Manor and no sign of any caravans or other indications of a caravan site

Loved the views and the owners…
Powered grass and gravel tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite
Liked Loved the views and the owners were lovely, and very helpful. The showers are basic but are kept lovely and clean.
Pitches were flat. Close to Derwent water and many other places to visit.
Disliked Pitch was very stoney and had difficulties getting the pegs in.
If you like a quiet night the traffic is quite noisy during the night.
The pathways are stony so not great if you have difficulty walking.

Expensive for quality
Powered grass and gravel tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite
Liked Beautiful views, able to have a camp fire, friendly hosts.
Disliked Noise from main road, toilets and showers very basic, ie concrete floors and panel board walls. They were clean but you’d expect a better standard at £64 for two nights that we paid. Our pitch was with an electric hook up but the only electric pitches they have are half grass half gravel so we bent about 12 pegs trying to secure the back of the tent.
